Newspaper Page TextFOUR MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE Defendants Appeal In Coy Cafe Case Notice of an appeal to the state supreme court has been filed by ths defendants in the suit of Susie Coy and Maude Coy Rob inson against Vaughn Quacken bush and Ruby Quackenbush. A circuit court Jury, Carl Fltchner, foreman, returned a verdict week ago in favor 01 the Coys who sought possession ol a uoia Hill cafe, operated on lease by the Quackenbushes. All the llti gants are residents of Cold Hill. Missing Sergeant Returns to Duties T. Sgt. Eugene Edwards, re Dorted missing in action in March, has been returned to mil itary control, according to a message received by his sister, Mrs. B. J. Haas, 1218 Court street. Sgt. Edwards is with the air corps and has been overseas since last June. His parents, for merly of Mcdford, now reside in Salem. VANDERPOOL RELEASED FROM GERMAN PRISON Pfc. Charles Vanderpool, pris oner of the Germans at a camp near Brodenburg since Dec. 16, has been released and Is now In hospital In France. A letter from the young man, taken pris oner during the "battle of the bulge" was received this week by his mother, Mrs. Mabel E. . Vanderpool, R. 1, Box 81, who had not heard from the young man since his imprisonment. ' Ffc. Vanderpool said he was being treated for an injured foot and was "trying to get his stom ach back in order after living on German - banquets of grass soup and ersatz tea." He added that the men in his camp would have starved except for the food in Red Cross packages. MURDER MYSTERY San Bernardino, Cal., June 1 (U.PJ Sheriff's deputies' today ought to learn the identity of a wo.nan whose half-nude body was found in a shallow desert grave along the Colorado River banks near Earp, Cal. Officers said the woman had been mur dered possibly a month ago. The victim was described as between 40 and SO years of age. The United States Merchant Marine Cadet Corps was estab lished in 1938, to .train young men for ship's officers. The Mer chant Marine Academy is at Kings Point, Long Island, N. Y.
