SIX MEDFORD MAIL THIBUNB , Wtdntiday. May 23. 1943 1 Your Health and It's Care 87 OR. WILLIAM BRADY M.D. Render! ihould addrMi InqulrU tei Or. William Brady. 266 El Camino Btveriy Htlla. Calii. THE EXPECT According to a one-inch item printed in a newspaper recently! the American Red Cross has an- n o u n c e d course of les sons of instruc tions in child care for new and expectant f a t h e rs - course, provide ed Jn response to suggestions by members of I Ml x pectan mothers' . class es. Dr. Brady I'd say. About time, In a midwest city not long ago a number of more or less prom. inent citizens consented to be quoted in the paper in reference to suggestion appearing in this column from time to time, that the place for a real man when his wife is bearing his child is at uls wife's side. The objections these important people trumped up were peculiar. In fact some of them would be comical if the matter were not so vital to love, honor and simple dacency. One man who happens to be either superintendent or a mem ber of the staff of a public hos pital voiced a sophomoric opin ion that the presence of the hus band in the delivery room would amount to a dangerous breach of aseptic technique, or something of the sort. To that I give merely a hearty Bronx cheer. Another citizen, this time a woman, who evidently holds some directive position in a semi public hospital, broke into print to say that a husband was too likely to collapse under the strain of it all if he was allowed to be present when his baby is born, so the hospital excluded husbands from the delivery room for their own welfare, the poor dear little sissies. Vet no one ask me which hos pital will permit the husband to remain with his wife at the time of her delivery. I don't know. The time to settle that is when the physician is engaged for the care of the expectant mother employ the physician with the understanding that the husband shall remain with his wife dur ing delivery. Although I cannot In any case tell you which hospital will per mit the husband to be present when his baby la born, I do as sure you that numerous good hospitals permit it Further I as SYNOPSIS OF ANNTTAt, STATEMENT 07 TUB Atlas Insurance Co., Ltd. if London.
