Dress ier received a building permit yesterday from the office of the city superintendent to repair fire damage at cost of $1000. The fire occurred on Dressier' prop erty, 353 Vancouver avenue, last week. In Recital Barbara Weisz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Frohreich, 304 North Holly street, will appear In the last of a series of student recitals on May 27 at the University of Ore gon, a bulletin from the school states. Miss Weisz will play "Paquena Dancz," by Iturbl, and "Music Box," by Lecunona. . European Vet Hers Pfc. and Mrs. Joseph L. Zamrzla visited the past two weeks with his par ents Mr. and Mrs. V: J. Zamrzla, 139 Portland avenue. Pfc. Zamrzla served eight months with the armed forces In the European theater and was wounded twice. He has re turned to McCaw General hos pital, Walla Walla, Wash., for additional medical care. He wears the purple heart, bronze star and good conduct medal.' Cars Collide Considerable damage was caused to an auto operated by Peggy Lucille Briggs, Ashland, yesterday when it was struck on the right side by an army truck driven by Len in H. Glass, U. S. army, on 8th and Bartlett streets, according to a police report today. Attends Session C. L. (Sam) Brown, field man of the accident prevention division of the State Industrial Accident commission for Josephine, Jackson, Klam ath and Lake counties Is at Eugene Wednesday. Thursday and Friday of this week in at tendance at a field men's train ing school conducted by the di vision. Fawcett Home Pfc. Harold W. Fawcett arrived in Medford Sunday and is visiting his wife, and daughter in Ashland and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fawcett, 1122 East Main street, in Medford. Fawcett is on a 28 day furlough from Grenier Field, New Hampshire,' where he serves as a radio tower operator. He graduated from Medford high school in 1941. Promoted Francis B. Schul- er has been promoted to captain 'according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Schuler, Myers Lane. Capt. Schuler is with the 120th Gen eral hospital stationed some where in the Philippines. He entered the army in February, 1944, and is a graduate of Med ford high school. Lodge To Meet Crater Lake Aerie No. 2093, F.O.E., will hold the weekly meeting Thursday at 8 p. m. at the lodge hall. Final plans will be made for a crab feed Sunday at S p. m. Initiation at 1:30 p. m. will precede the feed and all members with candi dates are requested to have them at the aerie rooms at 1 p. m. The meeting will close with a dance for all Eagles and their wives. President Shannon White urges all members to be on time. e e In San Francisco Platoon Sergeant Russell Combest, of the U.S.M.C., and the son of Cyre nlus Combest, former Medford resident. Is serving at the United Nations conference on Interna tional organization now In prog ress at San Francisco, Calif., ac cording to dispatch from the army-navy group there. Sat, Combest has served overseas with the marine corps In the Pa cific theater and is a graduate of Bonanza high school and the university of Oregon. Local Seabees Meet Roy Russell, SC3c, of the 128th Sea- bee battalion, and Dick Trul linger, both of Medford, met for the first time In two years on VE day In Hawaii, a letter from Russell to his sister, Mrs. Teresa Carr, of this city stated. The two men met shortly after Russell had docked in Hawaii following many months of sea duty. The letter said that they plan to visit another Medford boy, Dean Davis, who is stationed at an ad vance base hospital in the Islands. Russell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Russell, Ore gon City, and formerly of Med ford. Davis' mother, Mrs. Monta Davis, and Trullinger's mother, Mrs. Phyllis Morse, both reside In Medford. Visiting Parent TSgt. Rob ert Stewart arrived in Medford Saturday on 19-day furlough from George Field, Lawrence ville, 111. Stewart is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Stewart, 50 Modoc avenue. He returned to the states in October after two years overseas duty. OBITUARY Mrs. Clara L. Collins Services for Mrs. Clara L. Col lins, who passed away in a local hospital Saturday, will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel at 1:30 p. m. Monday with the Rev. George Turney officiating. In ternment will be In Siskiyou Memorial Park. Surviving is a brother, Clarence Lemieux California, who is here for the services. MRS. ELIZABETH H. SPARKS Rogue River, May 23 Fu neral services for Elizabeth H. Sparks, 91, who passed away May 17 in a Grants Pass hospi tal, were held In Rogue River May 19. Live Oak Grange was in charge of the graveside serv ice. Mrs. Sparks, who celebrated her 91st birthday last Christmas Day, had lived In Rogue River 25 years and was widely known.
