The Lewis' other son, 1st Sgt. Dick Lewis, is at Ft. Lewis, Wash. .' Accident A pick-up truck driven by E. P. Atterbury, 28 Ross Court, and a sedan operat ed by H. R. Stephens, Rt. 4, col lided at the intesection of high ways 99 and 62 yesterday morn ing causing damage estimated at $100 to Atterbury's pick-up, an accident report on file today stated. : Marina Home Marine Cpl. James L. Abbott of Eagle Point is in the county on furlough and Is visiting his father, R. A. Ab bott. Cpl. Abbott recently re turned from the Pacific theater where he last served In the bat tle for Iwo Jima. He has been in the service since enlisting in December, 1941. FORGER IS GIVEN THREE YEARTERM Wyatt Drennan, Jr., charged with forgery, was sentenced to an indeterminate term of not to exceed three years in state prison by Circuit Judge H. K Hanna yesterday on a plea of guilty. Drennan was specifically charged with uttering a spurious check for $36 on the First Na tional bank of this city. The sheriff's office reported his oper ations extended over a half dozen cities and would total ap proximately $1500. Attorney Hilding Bengtson called Dr. C. I. Drummond as a psychiatrist. The defendant's counsel con tended Drennan wrote the bogus checks only when under the in fluence of liquor. The state held they were written in a steady hand, and an effort had been made to disguise the endorse ment. No Reduction in Calls For Draft Washington, May 4. OI.R) Prospects of a reduction in draft calls during the next few months got a sharp setback today from Chief of Staff Gen. George C. Marshall. In a letter to Chairman An drew J. May, D., Ky., of the house military affairs commit tee Marshall pointed out that the army has not been able to meet replacement demands of Gens. Dwight D. Star Entertainers Going to Europe Soon After VE-Day Hollywood, May 4-j(U.R) Fif teen top-flight Hollywood screen and radio stars today announced plans for overseas entertain ment trips 11 of them as soon as VE-Day is proclaimed. The other four Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny and Ed (Archie) Gardner will leave as soon as their radio programs go oil the air for the summer. Hope will leave soon after June S on his fourth overseas trip he's previously been to the Aleutians, Africa-Italy and the South Pacific. Crosby, leaving around July B, will be making his second trip. Der Bingle was in Europe last year. When Benny takes off about May 27 it will be his third tour. Starving Civilians Given Allied Food With First Canadian Army, Holland, May 4. (U.R) Canadian trucks were being used today to help distribute allied food among starving civilians in German occupied areas of Holland. Another 1,050 tons of food was sent into Holland yesterday, 50 tons more than the original daily estimate when deliveries first began by air last Sunday. HARD TO BELIEVE South Hadley, Mass.
