He graduated from Medford senior high school with the class of 1943. Couple Here Cpl. and Mrs. George W. Hurd are in Medford visiting Cpl. Hurd s sisters, Mrs. P. E. Thompson and Mrs. F. C. Avers, No. 1 Cargill Court. Hurd Is on a 15-day furlough from Ontario. Calif., where he is sta tioned with the armament de partment of the air corps. Officials Here Officers of the Albany Chamber of Commerce were in Medford Tuesday to meet with officers of the Jack son County Chamber of Com merce and other county resi dents to discuss highways and other matters. Ferguson, president of the Al bany chamber; Robbie Robinson, manager of the Albany group: Arnold Kampfer, director and business man in both Albany and Medford, and Frank Van Dyke of Ashland. Dr. James Millar Tells Kiwanis of European Desires Dr. James Millar, world trav eler now connected with Oregon State college extension service, told the Kiwanis club yesterday that the three dominant desires in Europe before peace can be achieved are prosperity, terri tory and security. Dr. Millar spoke at the club's regular week ly meeting at Hotel Holland. Guests were C. M. Hurd, now of LaJolla, Calif., Rev. Harold M. Roberts, field representative of the Board of National Mis sions, Presbyterian church and William Bisbee of Portland, sugar manufacturing representa tive who spoke briefly on causes for the cut in canning sugar. Boy Scout News Scout Troop 4 enjoyed their first camping trip of the season when they went to Sqauw Lake Friday noon, returning Sunday night. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Dr. G. K. Good rich and Assistant Scoutmaster Ralph Ettel. About 20 Scouts made the trip and reported fish ing results excellent. Is being held In jail at Grants Pass awaiting removal to the Jackson county jail on an uto theft charge, state police said today. Moody reportedly went to the Automobile Market, Sixth and Bartlett streets, last night and asked to try out a 1936 Lafay ette coach which was being ot- fered for sale. According to police, the proprietor of the car lot reported the car had not been returned at 6:10 last night. Moody was arrested at Grants Pass on a - reckless driving charge later in the evening and told police he had driven the car to Grants Pass and was attempt ing to sell it, local officers said.
