Unit To Meet Howard Ex tension unit will meet at the home of Mrs. Benton, Berrydale avenue, at 10:00 a. m. Thursday. Topic for the day will be "Mak ing the Home More Livable." Gardeners To Meet Phoenix Garden club will meet Friday April 13, at the home of Mrs. Lillian Coleman at 1:30 p. m. for dessert luncheon. Assisting hostess will be Mrs. Etta Parker. Date Changed Chrysanthe mum Thimble club will meet Friday of this week instead of Thursday, it was announced to day, the meeting to be at the home of Maude Montgomery at 1:30 pi m. Sergeant Here Sgt. Paul Smith has arrived in Medford from the Grand Central Air ter mlnal at Glendale, Calif., where he Is stationed, and will spend two weeks with his mother, Mrs. Mary Smith, Route 2, and other relatives. Tams Home Thomas Claus Tarns, TM3'c, arrived in Medford Sunday after serving two years with the navy in the Atlantic. Tarns is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Tarns, at the fam ily home, 219 South Holly street. He will report back after a 24 , day leave to Newport, R. I., for training at the Torpedoman school there. House Guests Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Martin, and taby daugh ter, Lois, and Mrs. W. F. Martin, of Portland, were house guests last week in the home of I. C. Williams, 511 King street. The Martin family were en route to San Pedro, Calif., where Mr. Martin is an Inspector in the ship yards. Mrs. W. F. Martin accompanied them as far as Sacramento where she will visit her-sister. ' daughter Here-Miss Patricia Rankin is in Medford spending her annual leave from her posi tion as Red Cross recreational worker and is visiting her mother. Mrs. Fred Rankin South ' Oakdale avenue. Miss Rankin has been at Barnes General hospital in Vancouver, Wash., for the past two years but has been transferred to Bush nell General hospital, Brlgham City, Utah. Hamer, Central Point, when it collided with a car driven by Vera Walter York, Putman Auto Court, Ashland, on Highway 99. a report on file states. SOLDIER IS WOUNDED 3 TIMES IN 3 COUNTRIES ' Degraff, O., (UP.) Since leaving the United States in April of 1943, Cpl. Lester Hittfe pole has been wounded three times while serving in three dif ferent countries. Cpl. Hittlepole, a member of the paratroopers, was last re ported wounded Feb. 17 in France. On Sept. 20, 1944, he was wounded while serving in Hol land. Previously he received an ankle injury while fighting in the Italian campaign.
