LAKE CREEK BOY STATE CONTEST By Earle Jossy County 4-H Club Agent Merton Bradshaw, local lead er and Senior member of the Lake Creek Beef club, has placed second In the Oregon State sen ior 4-H club contest sponsored by the Oregon Bankers' Associa tion. Bill Williams, recently a member of the Valley View live - stock club and now a member of the armed forces, placed fifth These boys will each receive cash awards from the State' Bankers' Association, according to H. C. Seymour, State Club Leader. Merton Is nineteen and has been the outstanding 4-H meat animal producer in Jackson county for the last two years and this year he won highest hi.nors in the state and the Thomas E. Wilson gold watch, given annually to the state win ner of the meat animal contest. In nine years Merton has pro duced 34 beef steers, nine hogs, and 2V4 acres of corn. He has had a total income from his 4-H projects of $5349.06 or an aver age of $594 a year for his nine years. Besides his club projects, Mer ton has been operating an 050 acre farm and running 50 head of Hereford cattle for his mother since the death of his father in 1940. ROY DOTSON . AL SELBY FOR HENRY BORAH Henry P. Borah, a resident of Central Point lor the past 14 years, passed away at a local hospital late Thursday evening, following a short illness. He has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Cassman of Central Point for the past eight years. Mr. Borah was born on Feb. 12. 1860 in Wisconsin, and came to the State of Oregon in 1B2E. during most of that time he has engaged in orchard work. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Lilly Smith in South Dakota, and to this union was born one son. Mrs. Borah passed away some yeirs later and he was married to Clara A. Hartig. He is survived by two, sons, Melvin E., Klamath Falls, and Harry Or., San Louis Obispo, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. William Lewis, Millbanks, South Dakota. He is also sur vived by six grandchildren. Fu neral services will be conducted from the Perl Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 11th, at " o'clock. Rev. Gilbert E. Ci ys, pastor f the Christian Church of Central Point, will officiate and interment will take place in the Siskiyou Memorial Park.
