A' E ATTENDS LENTEN Tht largest audience of the Lenten series was present last night at the First Presbyterian Church to hear Dr. Russell V. DeLong apeak on "What are we Fighting For?" Special honor was accorded war mothers pres ent. The speaker emphasized the Four Freedoms as worthy objectives of this war. "We are ' not fighting because we hate Hitler," he said, "but because we believe ' in something posi tive, namely, the freedom of the . whole world from fear, from want and the right to a free press and unfettered speech and in particular the freedom of worship." Dr. DeLong pointed out some strange paradoxes In American life: "We revere the constitution but few of ur have read it; we would fight for the Bible, yet very few of us read It daily; we thrill to the "Star Spangled Banner, ana scarcely anyone ean quote the four stanzas. But the oddest paradox of all is that we will give our lives to Insure freedom of worship and yet do uui exercise tnat freedom. "If freedom of worship is worth fighting and dylne for it J worth living for," he declared. The all-city choir was led by John Eby. .Tonight the Lenten service will be held at the First Metho dist Church, Main and Laurel streets, Dr. Louis C. Kirby, pas tor, A youth rally will be held Friday at the First Methodist Church at 7:80 p. m. Talent Service ' Service Planned By Young People Taent, March 29. The ninth annual Easter Sunrise service sponsored by the youn oeooie of the Methodist church of Tal ent, will this year be onen to all people of the community who care to attend. Those who wish to participate will meet at the church at 6:45 a.m. and continue from there to Beeson Lane where the service will be held. Rev. Cox will deliver the ad dress and group singing will be led by Moxie Furrer on her ac cordion. Following the service the Jane Ball In Sunday Show S 1 , Jane Ball and Gregory Peck in a scene from "The Keys of the Kingdom" from the novel by A, J. Cronin, with Thomas Mitchell, Vincent Price. . young people will adjourn to the F. L. Holdridge home for a waf fle breakfast. Mrs. Floyd Quinn and Mrs. Lloyd Lacy will assist Mrs. Holdridge with the break fast. During the breakfast a short program will be presented.
