Bel castro haa been more than anx ious for the bout for some time and has been chasing the hood ed hoodlum all over the north west seeking the clash. Interest is running nearly as high in the aemi-windup when Georges Dusetto, the darling of the mat, will face his toughest bout here when he goes against Terrible Tony Rocs over the four round route. Dusette's dan gerous full nelson maneuver makes him the alight favorite although Ross might give the classy Canadian bis first north west defeat. Dusette won the Junior heavy weight championship Monday night in Portland when he took a lone fall match from Gust Johnson. Ivan Jones, physical educa tion director at McLoughlln Heights, Vancouver, will pit his multitude of clever holds against tough Billy McEultt In the 8:30 opener. PLANSMADT for BASEBALL SQUAD Plans for a baseball team made up of Medford players has been announced by Bud Conlln of the Owl Club. March S9 (U.PJ Portland Beavera wound up their spring exhibition sched ule last nisht with a 0-8 win over McClellan Field and a 14-8 victory in the afternoon over Fleet City at Camp Shoemaker. "Lefty" Mosser sparked the evening game, striking out 11 rival batters in the five innings he pitched. A home run by Ted Gullic featured a five-run first Inning by Portland. The rookie squad took over la the last' tlx innings. COCHRAN TRAILS HOPPE IN BILLIARD PLAYOFFS Philadelphia, March J. So the Los Angeles Angels, winnera of the 1944 and 1943 Pacific Coast league pennant races, will take 'the field Satur day against the San Francisco Seals favored to win their third consecutive flag in the 183-game race. ' However, there appears to be the making of a ding-dong battle over the horizon all through the league and the United Press ad mittedly goes out on a limb to make these choices: 1 Los Angeles Angels. 2 Seattle Rainiers. 3 Portland Beavers. 4 San Francisco Seals. 5 Sacramento Solons. 6 pakland Acorns. 7 Hollywood Stars. 8 San Diego Padres. The Rainiers have added a batting punch in the acquisition of Chuck Aleno, Ted Norbert and Bob Finley. If Manager Bill Skiff can round out his usually- strong pitching staff, the Seattle club may furnish the major con tention. Admittedly Manager Marv Owen is going to miss Marino Pieretti, the 26-game winner, from his Portland mound corps. But the Beavers have added three good hurlers to take his place and again should be a fac tor in deciding the big money winners. Manager Lefty O'Doul has the same club of veterans he had in 1944 minus the pitchers at San Francisco. The "if club of the season Is the Sacramento Solons. Manager Earl Sheely lined up plenty of talent during the winter months. The Oakland Acorns definite ly are the "maybe" team. Man ager Dolph Camilli is stacked two deep all through the Infield, outfi ' ' behind the plat. His u fiances appear to hinge oil - . well the replace ments respond, and what the pitchers can do. Some writers are tabbing the Hollywood Start for the first division. Fiery Pepper Martin appears to have job cut out for himself if he is able to draw the Padres out of the cellar., The pitching staff has been completely denud ed of stars, with very little for replacements showing as the sea son opens. , PARTS end" SERVICE In all miku of WASHERS and REFRIGEKAXOBS YOUNGER'S APPLIANCE ' SERVICI CO. 31 It.
