H. W. Robertson Buys Perry Farm Near Eagle Point Purchase of 65 acres of farm land near Eagle Point from Her bert Perry was announced today by H. W. Robertson. The ranch is all under cultivation and planted to clover, Robertson NOTICE Stock taken up by Sheriff at H. H. Mr. Robertson and his family plan to move to the ranch in the near future but Robertson will continue his work with the Commercial Finance corpora tion. The ranch adjoins the Crater Lake highway and runs into the city limits of Eagle Point. The Robertson property on Thomas Road and Sunset has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Watson, formerly of Portland and now employees of the Safe way stores here. ASHLAND SOLDIER ,IS KILLED ON IWO JIMA Ashland, March 17 Pfc. Ivan O. Chambers, son of O. O. Cham bers of the Lithia Auto Court, was killed in action on Iwo Jima February 19, according to word received from the war depart ment. Pfc Chambers attended grade school in Ashland and hign school in Gold Hill. LOCAL and PERSONAL On Furlough Pvt. Keith A. Bristlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Bristlin, is home on an 18-day furlough after completing train ing with an ambulance division in the army medical corps at Camp Bowie, Tex. Pvt. Bristlin is visiting with his family at their home on Arnold Lane. Accident Reported A car driven by Albert Anderson, Se quim, Wash., was considerably damaged Friday when an auto driven by Lewis L. Simpson, Rt. 1, sideswiped Anderson's car as it emerged from a driveway on Main street, a report on file yes terday stated. About $100 dam age resulted to Anderson's car and about $35 damage to the 1 Simpson car. Doctor Returns Dr. C. E. Kunz returned this week after spending a month at the Vet erans' Hospital, Portland, and will be back at his office, 300 Medford Center Building, Mon day. ' Chimney Fir Medford fire men were called to the home of John Klipan, 530 South Fir street, Friday to extinguish a chimney fire. The firemen stat eu that a small hole was burned in the roof of Klipan's residence. ' Shower Phoenix ladles are giving a shower Wednesday at 2:00 p. m., for the Christie fam ily whose home burned Friday. The shower will be held at the Phoenix Presbyterian church. All Phoenix ladies are asked to attend. Neeley Home Clinton C. Neeley, Snlc in the navy, who has been overseas for the past 11 months, arrived in Medford last night by United Airlines and is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Neeley, Jacksonville Star Route. He also plans to vis it his sisters in Los Angeles be fore reporting in San Francisco. Overseas Pvt. Wallace H. Woods has left for overseas duty in the South Pacific theater ac cording to information received by his m o t h e r, Mrs. Harold Woods, 1307 East Main street. Before sailing the young man was in Medford to spend a fur lough with his mother. Pvt. Woods' father, Major Harold Woods, has been serving in In dia with the army for the past two years. The de ceased was the daughter of the late Mrs. M. Cooksey of Central Point. Services were held at the l inley chapel in Portland. Discharged Carl R. Ben nett, Butte Falls, was discharged from the army January 25 at the Separation Center, Ft. Lewis, Wash. Bennett enlisted in July, 1942 and served overseas 1 year and 11 months. He was author ized 3 bronze battle stars for ac tion in New Guinea, Dutch New Guinea, and the Phillippines lib eration, Her from Overseas Ti Nels A. Soderlund, son of Mrs. M. Soderlund, 1716 North River side, has arrived in the United States on furlough from the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations, where he served 37 months with the quartermaster corps, according to a release from the army service forces Fort Douglas, Utah. Lt. Chas Leaves Lt. Cecil Lee Chase, son of Mr. and Mrs Cecil C. Chase, Route 4, box 46C, left last wek for Lincoln, Neb., from where he will be assigned to overseas duty. Lt. Chase who enjoyed a six-day visit here with his parents en route to Lincoln from Victorville, Calif., radar school, is a graduate of Medford high school in the class of 1943. Horn on Furlough Pfc. and Mrs. Stephen V. Dutkie- wicz and their small daughter, Vicky Ann, arrived in Medford recently to spend 15 days with Mrs. Dutkiewicz parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gaines, -119 Port land avenue. Pfc. Dutkiewicz is on furloush from the army air corp at Strother Field, Kansas and will report back to the air base at Keams, Utah. Lt. Home First Lt. Paul C McQuat'is visiting in Medford at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. H. Lydiard, 16 Geneva street Lt. McQuat is stationed at the Smyrna Air Field, Smyrna. Tenn., where he has Just com pleted B-24 training. Before en tering B-24 training, McQuat was instructor of cadets in the south east. He will report back to Smyrna for B-29 training. Daughter Born A daughter was born March 13 at the Camp White Station Hospital to Mrs. Joe Gage, wife of Pfc. Joe Gage who is now with an engineer unit in Belgium. Mrs. Gage is mak ing her home- with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Rammin, 831 West 12th street while her hus band is overseas. Clar Her Royal Clare ar rived In Medford from Portland Thursday to spend a week-end with his family at 21 South Washington avenue. Clare, for merly with the Zellerbach Pa per company here, was recently transferred to the staff of the Portland office. He will return to Portland tomorrow. . Tak Horn Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bishop, former Medford resi dents who recently moved to Portland, have taken up resi dence at 9011 N. E. Halsey street, -ccording to Information received here by friends. Mr. Bishop is manager o the Port land office of a radio represen tative firm. In Medford Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Mercer were In Medford yesterday visiting Clyde Mer cer, 603 North Bartlett avenue, on their way to San Francisco where they wijl make their home.
