Ann Elizabeth Drysdale and Shirley Jean Bederka, have been accept ed by the WAVES and will leave this evening (or Portland from where they will be tent to New York for training according to the Medford navy recruiting eta tlon. Miss Drysdale is a daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon E. Drysdale, 1123 West Main street nd Mrs. Bederka has made her home at 319 Portland avenue. Miss Drysdale, well known In the city, graduated from Med ford high school with the class of 1942 and attended Oregon State college for two years, where she was a member of Alpha XI Delta. For the past year she has been employed by the ordnance command here. Mrs. Bederka came to Med ford two years ago from New York with her husband and has been employed since that time by the Crater Lake Lumber company. Steel 63 SNOW IN RENO Reno, Nev., March IS (U.R) More than five Inches of snow fell last night In Reno, with con tinued cooler weathei and pos sibly more snow predicted for the week-end, the Weather Bu reau reported today. WAONERCREEKP. T. C. Wagner Creek P. T. C. will hold a social evening at the schoolhouse tomorrow evening March 16, at 8 p. m. An enter talnment program Is planned and will be followed by a pie social, the committee states. The pub lic Is Invited to attend. Snow Covers Hills, SnoCat Test Will Be Held Next Week Snow flurries fell this morn Ing throughout the high hill areas of the county with some ram. During the night an inch of new snow fell at Prospect, Wednesday, the two inches that fell the night before melted dur ing the day. Arch Work, In charge of the Federal-State snow surveys for Oregon reported the Tucker Sno-Cat tests will be held near this city . Monday and Tuesday, but the site will be announced later, due to poor snow condi tions. Tucker, a former local resident deviced the contrivance. Work also reports that the Irrigation division of the depart ment of agriculture has pur chased a Sno-plane for use in snow survey work, and that tests made last week at Union Creek show the machine per formed well under poor snow conditions. A similar machine has been used successfully In Wyoming for several years. Blue Goose Party Is Friday Night The employe's committee for the American Fruit Growers, Inc., party today reminded oil Blue Goose employes, growers and others Invited, of the Blue Goose party Friday night from eight to midnight at Dreamland ballroom. The committee has planned a gala time for all with dancing, cards and refreshments. Those attending are asked to present Invitations at door for themselves and partv. FROST OBSERVERS HERE FOR ORCHARD SURVEY Frost Observer Roy Rogers ar rived late Tuesday, and yester day started his annual duties here. First work will bt the test ing of orchard thermometers. It Is estimated there will be close to 300 of these Instruments Many have already been turned In, but many orchardists have not done so, and are requested to do so as soon as conveniently possible. Rogers reports pear develop ment is backward in the valley orchards, a favorable condition, Prospect Prospect, March 19 Mrs. El mer Clemens entertained her club at her home in Jantzer vil lage March 14. After the busi ness meeting members worked on a quilt for the Children's Farm Home. Prospect high school student body will give a carnival in the school gym Friday, starting at 8 p. m. A great deal of preparation has. been made and the public Is promised more entertainment, and concessions, and better prizes than ever before. Miss Anna belle Wlllrlch, daughter of C. A. Jackie Carlton, S 2c, of the naval construction battalion, ar rived here from San Diego March 12, and is enjoying a week visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs. Herbert L. Carlton and sisters, Miss Selda, and Miss Elva. Jackie spent March 13 vis iting old schoolmates at Prospect high school, where he was grad uated last spring. Pvt. Dale Planer, son-in-law ot Mr. and Mrs. L. L. dines, and former Prospect boy, arrived in the Philippine Islands recently Lawrence Conger sustained two badly' mangled fingers while at work March 10 and was taken to Medford for medical atten tion. Myron Taylor, 111 with a throat infection and influenza for two weeks, has recovered and re sumed his work as scaler for the George L. Jantzer Lbr. Co. Mrs. Flora Waggoner and Mrs. Dorothy Levtzow, who run the Mickey Mouse cafe In Medford. spent an afternoon here last week visiting friends. Eldon Bean has his four-room house near Cascade Gorge near ly completed, and moved his household goods in this week. Mrs. Marion Bean and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Nye, moved from Mrs. Bean's house next door to the Townsend hall, to the house that was recently va cated by the Eldon Beans. DO VOU KNOWf Egg Equivalents In most recipes calling for eggs, medium-size eggs are used as the basis for measurement. ; 4 to 6 whole eggs equal 1 cup 8 to 10 egg whites equal 1 cup 10 to 14 egg yolks equal 1 cup To prevent yolk of hard cooked eggs ; from darkening: Remove from heat ' and plunge immediately into cold water. ' Eggs should not be washed before storage because water removes the protective coating on the shell essen tial to keeping quality of eggs. E$X yolks store well when covered with cold water, milk or salad oil; covered tightly and stored in refrig erator. Egg whites store well when covered tightly and stored in refrigerator. For best volume eggs should be at room temperature before beating. . Eggs should always be cooked at low temperatures as high temperatures toughen the protein. OILID OR SOFT CUSTARD (A way with egg yolks) A delicate, smooth sauce 4 egg yolks 2 cups milk !4 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla t tsp. salt extract Beat egg yolks slightly with spoon in top of double boiler; add sugar and salt; mix well; add milk; and cook over rapidly boiling water about 10 to 15 minutes, or until mixture is slightly thickened and coats spoon, stirring occasionally.
