Visitor Leaves Mrs. Ruth Martin of Portland has returned to her home in Portland after spending a week in Medford to visit her niece, Mrs. George Davis, and transacting 'business in connection with the purchase of acreage in the valley. Pvt. Atkins Pvt. E. Atkins accompanied by Mrs. Atkins and children, Douglas and Janice, re turned to Medford February 23 from Camp Wolters, Texas. Pvt. Atkins left March 4 to report to Ft. Ord, Calif., for overseas as signment. Mrs. Atkins and chil dren plan to reside at their home on Stewart avenue. Accident A car driven by Fred E. Hallgren, 215 Van couver avenue, ran into a semi trailer parked in front of Ead s Transfer Co. yesterday evening. according to an accident report on file today. The report stated that Hallgren collided with the trailer to avoid hitting an on coming car and that the acci dent caused damage of approxi mately $500 to Hallgren's car. e e Discharged J. Roy Analuf, former employe of the Standard stations here, reported at draft board No. 1 this morning after receiving his discharge from the army signal corp. Analuf served with the army for two and one-half years. , Reporting with him at the draft board was "Candy," a blonde cocker span ial, who was "discharged" from the signal corps along with Sgt. Analuf. Gordon Gilmore, 408 West 10th street, will replace Mrs. Skeen. Another teacher who resigned recently from Washington school was Mrs. Elizabeth Sager. Mrs. Sager moved to the home of her mother in Salem after the news of her husband's death in France. e e e Transferred Lt. Thomas Hel man has been transferred to the army transport command and is now stationed at Great Falls, Mont. Lt. Helman, former co pilot and pilot of the Flying Fortress, "Ohio Airforce," the crew of which set a record for enemy planes downed In one raid, returned to this country from England about a year ago and since has been stationed at Lockbourne Field, Columbus, O.. and Sioux City, la. At present Lt. Helman is ferrying bombers between fields in this country and soon is to be assigned to an overseas route. His wife accom panied him to Montana. His brother, Jack Helman, ART 1c. has been stationed at Pearl Har bor for many months. The young men are sons of Mrs. J. tl. Hel man, 420 Pearl street. Chamberlins Here . En Route To Take Eastern Command Col. and Mrs. Frank T. Cham- berlin were overnight visitors in Medford and left this noon for Washington, D. C, by the south ern route. Col. Chamberlln for merly was medical director and post surgeon at Camp White and with Mrs. Chamberlln left here last July for Camp Lockett, Calif. Later the colonel was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash., where he reorganized the camp's medical department. Following his stop in Wash ington, D. C, the colonel will report to Camp Forest, Tenn., In the fourth service command, where he will take charge of a general hospital. EDWARD J.
