HENRY SERVICES 1:30 P.M. FRIDAY Services for J. D. Henry, who passed away in Klamath Falls Tuesday, will be held in the Conger-Morris Chapel at 1:30 p. m., Friday with the Reverend D. E. Miller officiating. Inter ment will be in IOOF cemetery. Ha was born in Bowling Oreen, Ohio, June 21, 1872, and was united .in marriage to Mary Louise Fridegar in 1897 at Co lumbus, Ohio.. She passed away in 1039. He came to Southern Oregon in 1902 and for twenty years lived on a farm near Brownsboro. Since 1938, when ha left the farm, he had made his home with his daughter. Mrs. Frances Nelson, Central Point. He leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Margaret Vroman, Klam ath Falls, and Mrs. Beatrice Welsh, Anaheim, Calif.; a son, Albert Henry, Sacramento; four grandchildren, Roland Thomp son, Portland, Carl Stockford, Mrs. Margaret Day and Allen Henry, Medford; -. five great grandchildren; a brother, Edwin Henry, ' Ohio; a half-sister, Mrs. Clara McNelley, Ohio; and a brother-in-law, R. I. Fridegar, Ashland. DEGAULLE WOULD SOFTEN F. R. Paris, Feb. 21 U.R) Presi dent Gen. Charles DeGaulle's of fice shortly before last midnight officially confirmed that he had declined an invitation to meet President Roosevelt in Algiers. The communique was couch' ed in conciliatory diplomatic language clearly intended to dis pel the impression of a personal snub on the part of De Gaulle and reiterated France's strong hope that Mr. Roosevelt later would visit Paris. The communi que said "much business" re quired De Gaulle's presence in Paris. The communique said France still was "ignorant" of the "manifold objectives" of the big three conference at Yalta, but added that she was exchang ing views with the allies on re mits of the conference. Rinaman, a Japanese prisoner-of-war, that he has been taken to the Jap anese mainland and is now in terned at the Tukuoka Camp hospital. The major, a doctor, is a nephew of Mrs. W. S. Gilmore, 4 Newtown street. The broadcast was heard by Mrs. Frank Biderell of Palo Alto, Calif., who relayed it to the major's mother in Pennsyl vania. The major in addition to giving the news of his transfer, stated that Major Biambard was with him, that six letters and some packages had arrived for him and added, "have great pa tience. Major Rinaman has been a prisoner since the fall of Cor regidor and according to Mrs. Gilmore for a time was interned in the same camp with a brother of Dr. A. E. Merkel. Jackson county health officer, also a prisoner. Reps. Richard . Welch, R. Franck Havenner, D., . Leroy Johnson, R., George McDonough, R", and Ed V. Izac D., urged that a generous portion of the $68, 000,000 to be allocated from FWA funds for highway con struction in California be used in their areas. "The entire San Francisco area where the government has more activities per square mile than in any other part of the country is virtually hemmed in by hills," Welch said. "The tunnel route and Niles Canyon are the only two routes leading out." ROTARY INTERNATIONAL MAY SHIFT QUARTERS Chicago, Feb. 21 U.R Officers of Rotary International are -considering moving head quarters of the organization from its birthplace Chicago to Denver, it was learned today International President Rich ard H. Wells, Pocatello, Ida., said a committee appointed by the board of directors to study pos sible new locations had recom mended Denver. Wells, here on return from a Latin-American tour, said Rotary plans to build a $600,000 building of its own in its new location. SWINGSHIFTERS PLAN DINNER-TIME DANCES Hollywood, Feb. 21 (U.R) Harry Schooler, who taught his fellow swingshifters to play while others slept, complained today that the government's mid night curfew had undone all his work, but said he would meet it by opening his dances at dinner time. Schooler, who worked in a war plant for $60 a week and made $1000 a week "on the side" by sponsoring swingsKIft dances for his fellow-workers, guessed there was no Way to save the after-hours dances. He offered his records in proof.' Never in medical history has a birth been so tardy.' The child, weighing six pounds 15 ounces was born at Methodist Hospital last night three months after she was normally due, ac cording to Dr. Beltz' calcula tions. 270 Days Normal Dr. Beltz said his records showed the gestation period was 375 days, as compared to the normal 270 days. Obstetric rec ords, he said, report the longest pregnancy was 359 days, and there are records of many over 300 days. "The weight of the baby un der these circumstances should be about 12 to 14 pounds," Dr. Beltz said. "The fact that Mrs. Hunter's baby weighs only about seven pounds has caused some of the doctors at the hospital. here to have a laugh at my ex pense. But I show them my rec ords. "I can't help laughing at my self that such a thing should happen to me," Dr. Beltz added "No rules hold good in this busi ness. Of course, these things have to be looked at with skep ticism. Compton White (D., Idaho). White said funds previously applied to training will be used to conduct the receiving station It will include a bureau of medi cine and surgery as well as yards and docks maintenance. "The navy anticipates a heavy influx to the receiving station with the end of the war In Europe," White said.
