fice shortly before last midnight
officially confirmed that he had
declined an invitation to meet
President Roosevelt in Algiers.
The communique was couch'

language clearly intended to dis

and reiterated France's strong
hope that Mr. Roosevelt later
would visit Paris. The communi

quired De Gaulle's presence in
Paris.
The communique said France
still was "ignorant" of the
"manifold objectives" of the
big three conference at Yalta,
but added that she was exchang

Dr. Daniel Beltz today said
Mrs. Buelah Hunter, 25, had
given birth to a baby girl a year
and 10 days after it was con
ceived. He offered his records
in proof.'
Never in medical history has
a birth been so tardy.'
The child, weighing six pounds
15 ounces was born at Methodist
Hospital last night three months
after she was normally due, ac
cording to Dr. Beltz' calcula
tions.
270 Days Normal
Dr. Beltz said his records
showed the gestation period was
375 days, as compared to the
normal 270 days. Obstetric rec
ords, he said, report the longest
pregnancy was 359 days, and
there are records of many over
300 days.
"The weight of the baby un
der these circumstances should
be about 12 to 14 pounds," Dr.
Beltz said. "The fact that Mrs.
Hunter's baby weighs only about
seven pounds has caused some
of the doctors at the hospital.
here to have a laugh at my ex

self that such a thing should
happen to me," Dr. Beltz added
"No rules hold good in this busi
ness. Of course, these things
have to be looked at with skep
ticism. But there are my rec
ords."
