Hedrick, superin tendent of schools, announced today, Return For Duration Mrs. Dorothy Hume and twin daugh ters, Jacqueline and Josephine, have returned to Trail with Mrs. Hume's mother, Mrs. Caro line Harding, where they will remain for the duration, Mrs. Harding joined her daughter in North Carolina to make the trip here, and enjoyed an extended visit in Florida, New Orleans and in California. . Traffic Accident Billy Elchey, 16, of 421 North Bart lett, was involved in an automo bile accident Sunday afternoon when the vehicle he was operat ing collided with that of Walter M. Bergman, S29 North Oak- dale at West Main and Bartlett street intersection, according to a report filed with local police. Damage to the Richey caj was estimated at 33 in the report. Car Window Broken Pvt Lazar Palanink, Camp White soldier, was arrested by mill tary police Monday night after thrusting his fist through a win dow of a car parked on North Bartlett streeet and injuring his hand, according to a police re port. The soldier was walking along Bartlett street with an other G. Returns Don Bagley, 1322 Reddy avenue, returned to Med ford this morning by plane aft er spending the past few days in Portland with Mrs. Bagley and their two children Mr. Bagley states that the eldest child Susie, who has been ill for the past several days, will undergo surgery next Monday. He plans to return to Portland over the week-end, Corps To Meet The Staff As sistants' corps of the Jackson County Red Cross chapter will meet at the home of Mrs. John Day, Groveiand avenue, Thurs day at 3:45 p. m. it was an nounced today. Corps members who wish transportation are asked to meet at the chapter of fice at 3:30 p. m. Mrs. Ham Holmes will speak on Red Cross services to veterans and the function of the Veterns' Service committee. Sentence Suspended Knoble Moore, 40 year old native of Arkansas and an ex-serviceman, who was picked up by police Tuesday night for being drunk in a public place and eating a meal in a restaurant for which he did not pay, had a five day jail sentence suspended today in court, Moore had been a dish washer In Grants Pass, he told police, and was heading for ban Francisco to join the U, S, Maritime service. e Crouch Here Pvt. Driver Asleep At Wheel A report was filed today by Hom er A. Sullivan, 534 Hamilton street stating that his automo- otle had careened across the! lawn of a residence at South Newtown and W. Main street Tuesday shortly, before, mid night after he apparently went to sleep at the wheel. He said he was proceeding west on West 6th street and must have crossed Newtown while dosing, before hitting the lawn. Damage was reported to the front lawn yard, but the driver did not state ex tent of same to his automobile. . Family Arrives Mrs. Ben Schmidt and daughter. Jacque line, arrived in Medford yester day to join Mr, Sehmidt who came to Medford several months ago to become secretary of the Medford Y.M.OA. The Schmidt will reside temporarily at the corner of Columbus and Fourth streets and Jacqueline will en ter the ninth grade at Junior high school. Mr. and Mr. Schmidt have three other chil dren, Midshipman Rodney scnmidt, navy v-12 student at Harvard; Miss Barbara Schmidt, senior at Santa Barbara State College, Calif., and Mrs. Willard Trask, San Diego, whose hus band is a junior grade lieuten ant in the navy currently sta tioned to the Philippine Islands, YOUTH RECEIVES GUNSHOT WOUND Cloyce Barnes, 15-yesro!d Jacksonville boy, was ihot acci dentally early this morning in the Griffin Creek district end taken to Community hospital re cording to local and state police.
