Ponder of Gold Hill is serving with the army as a cook with the 91st Infantry di vision, which was stationed at Camp White for a considerable period. Returns Pvt. Guy Bishop, Jr., returned Sunday to Fort Ord, Calif., after spending a furlough visiting his parents in Medford. Pvt. Bishop recently completed his basic infantry training at Camp Roberto. Calif., where he Qualified as an expert rmeman. Wins Badge Pfc. Frederick E. Kruggal, Jr., son of Mrs. Alta E. Kruggel, 421 J street, has been cited by the 11th ar mored infantry battalion of the 1st armored division- of the Sth army in Italy and awarded the combat infantryman badge ac cording to a dispatch from Italy. Warren Hoi. brook recently arrived at an air service command station In Eng land according to a news release from the station. They were giv en an orientation course design- ed to bridge the gap between training in the states and com bat soldiering, the news release states, and then were sent to a station for active duty. Cpl Young Is the son of Mr. and Mrs E. R. Young, 329 Riverside ave nue, and Cpl. Holbrook is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Hol brook, 119 Crater Lake avenue. Before entering the service Cpl. OLSEN, 94, TAKEN BY DEATH Anna Marie Olsen, 94, passed away at the home of her daugh ter, Mrs. Ray Pence, 501 Beatty St., Monday. She was born in Norway in 1850, and came to America in 1879. Mrs. Olsen was twice married and the mother of six children, two by her former husband, Mrs. Anna Bills and Peter Hansen both deceased, and Mrs. W. H. Johnson ot Gridley, Cal., Miss Teckla Olsen of Medford, Mrs. Ray Pence of Medford and Oscar Olsen of Marcus Hook, Pa., all living. She also leaves several grandchildren and greatgrand children. She was a strong Christian character, a member of the Lu theran church. Funeral services will be held In Grants Pass Wednesday at 3 p. m. at Hull and Hull funeral parlor. OBITUARY BETTIE E. REQINIER Bettie E. Reglnler passed away Sunday in San Francisco, Calif. Remains are being for warded to the Perl Funeral Home, and time of services will be announced later. PARLEY PETER ALLEN Parley Peter Allen passed away at the family home on route No. 4 Sunday. He was a farmer by occupation. He was born on January 11 1872, at Laketown, Utah, where he spent his early life, later mov ing to Canada, where he was united in marriage to Miss Rhoda Beverage In 1901. In 1003 they moved to LaGrande, Ore., coming to Medford in 1925, Besides his wife he is sur vived by four daughters, Mrs, Mae Goerges, Mrs. Edna New- land end Mrs. Dora Simmons, of Medford, Mrs. LUa Jenkins, of Portland; two sons, David Allen, In the army stationed at Howze, Tex., and Daryl Allen, ot Oakland, Calif.; also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellen Price, LaGrande, Ore., Mrs. Annie Messenger, Astoria, Ore., and Mrs. Hannah Neil of Hollywood Calif. Three brothers, Joseph F, Alien, Nampa. Idaho: Hyrum Allen, LaGrande, Ore.; Moroni Allen, Nampa. A half-brother, Henry J. Allen, of Sutherlin, Ore., will be in Medford tor the services. Mr. Allen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. Funeral services are in charge of the Perl Funeral Home and will be announced upon ar rival of his son from Texas.
