Hickman, 207 Haven street, be came the bride of Eugene Duna gan, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Dunagan of 413 West Jackson boulevard, at a service held Thursday at the Methodist church here. The Rev. LOUls U. Kirby performed the double ring ceremony at 3 o'clock in the afternoon before an altar Dank ed with fern, baskets of flowers and lighted candles. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin made princess style with a sweetheart meckline. Her fingertip length veil was held with a halo of seed pearls and she wore a string of pearls. The bridal bouquet was pink and white roses and carnations. Maid-of-bonor was Miss Max Ine Hickman, sister of the bride, and bridesmaids were Miss Jean Hickman, sister of the bride, Miss Faye Walker, a cousin, and Miss Elizabeth Livingston. All wore pastel colored gowns and carried matching bouquets of mixed blossoms. Little Miss Sharon Cospy, flower girl, carried a basket of spring narcissi. . The bride's mother wore a two-piece suit of soldier blue with black accessories ana a cor sage of gardenias. The bride groom's mother was gowned in black with fuchsia colored acces sories and also wore gardenias'. Best man for the groom was Burl Johnson of Central Point, a cousin, and ushers were Homer Sullivan, Tad Von Stein, and Eldon Gunter. Preceding the service Miss Jean Hickman and Miss Faye Walker sang a duet, "I Love You Truly," with Mrs. Lyle Schop pert at the organ. Mrs. Schop pert also played the wedding marches. The wedding reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The traditional wedding cake centered the serving table and after the bride had cut the first slice the cutting was com pleted by Mrs. A. O. Walker, aunt of the bride. Pouring were Miss Gloria McGrow and Miss Ruth Johnson, the latter a cou sin of the groom. About 170 guests were pres ent for the wedding and 88 av tended the reception. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Dunagan left after the reception for a brief wedding trip. For traveling the bride wore a three-piece suit of light green tweed with black accessories and two orchids. Last night the groom left by plane for New York, to report to the navy, and Mrs. Dunagan plans to Join him later. The bride has lived in Med ford sine 1835, coming here with her parents .from White River, S. D., and graduated from Medford high school with the class of 1844. The groom has lived in the valley his entire life and graduated from high school in Medford with the class of 1843. He entered naval service In July of that year and Is now a motor machinist's mate third class. Farewell Part) Given Tuesday For Mr a. Dodd A farewell party was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Gladys Rammin, 831 West Twelfth street, for Mrs. June Dodd who will leave soon tor Eugene to make her home. Mrs Xdlth Olson is president of the (roup. and Clubs Yearly Luncheon Of College Club la Large Affair College Women's club of the Rogue River valley entertained at its annual New Year lunch eon, the affair being given the afternoon of January 13 at the Presbyterian church social hall. More than 80 members and guests were present. Mrs. E. H. Hedrlck, local novelist and short story writer, spoke on "The American Writ er." She built a background for her topic by characterizing the different periods In history dur ing which cultures rose and died away and by showing that each artist and writer was motivated by corresponding and clearly discernible Impulses. Mrs. Hedrlck stated that In her opinion In our rather world ly and materialistic age writers, especially the younger ones, are apt to be' Influenced by t h e great difference In prices paid t. popular magazines as com pared to those ranking higher In the field and writers who might eventually produce some thing artistic and of lasting im portance succumb to the temp tation to write "formula" ma terial for which they are well paid. Enjoyable musical numbers were given by Miss Bertha Aik en, violinist, accompanied by Mrs. Amos Willetts. Both are from Ashland. Miss Vera Humphrey was so cial chairman for the affair and she and her committee received much praise for the fine lunch eon and unusually beautiful table decorations of golden candles with acacia and purple heather which gave an impres sion of advancing spring. Installation Held By Nevita Chapter At Central Point Central Point Nevita chap ter, No. 83, OJ5.S., held installa tion of officers at the last chap ter meeting, with Ethel Stlmson installed worthy matron and Or ville Hamilton, worthy patron. Gladys Jewett and William H. Bishop, retiring worthy matron and patron, presided over the meeting and installing officers all were past matrons of the chapter. Installing officer for the evening was Lillle Holt and as sisting were Leila Paxson, instal ling chaplain; Ethel Freeman, installing organist; Leta Kyle, Installing marshal and Margaret Swing, honorary marshal. Her officers wore white gowns and corsages made up in the five Eastern Star col ors. Following the ceremonies an addendum for the worthy ma tron was given by the new offi cers and little Yvonne Stimson, who acted as flower girl. She presented her mother with a bouquet of red carnations. Musical numbers were a piano solo by Virginia Jones, daughter of the worthy matron, and a solo by Dorothy Morris. Among distinguished guests and members were Beulah Fa ber, grand Adah of the grand chapter of Oregon; Hope Wood, grand representative; Ella and Ed. Gould, worthy matron and worthy patron of Adarel chapter No. 3; Adelaide Clary, matron, and H. H. Mayberry, patron, of Alpha chapter No. 1: Amelia HUes, matron of Reames chapter No. 66 and other members and officers of the southern Oregon chapters. Mrs. Stlmson's family present ed her with an Eastern Star ring and the chapter presented Mrs Jewett with a past matron's Jewel, Mrs. Holt making the presentation. The chapter halls were deco rated with candles and flowers in the Eastern Star colors and with baskets of winter greenery. The evening closed with serving of refreshments. Miss Frances Parker was hon ored guest at a shower given Thursday evening by Mrs. E. G. Randolph and her daughter, Miss Barbara Randolph, at their home, 548 Pennsylvania avenue. Miss Parker's wedding to Wil liam Oatman of Medford will take place this afternoon at the Presbyterian church at 4 o'clock. Miscellaneous gifts were pre sented to the honored guest early in the evening and the guests then played games, prizes going to Mrs. Harry Elden and Mrs. Henry Zacharisen. Refresh ments were served from a table arranged with candelabra and tall white tapers and centered with a cake decorated with bride and groom figurines. Present were Mrs. N. S. Luncheon arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Henry Pauls and Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. John R. Young conducted a business meeting. Guests of the club were Mrs. George R. Sheldon of Salt Lake City and Miss Margaret Clegg of Ottawa, 111. At bridge prizes were won by Miss Clegg, Mrs. John W. Hors ley and Mrs. Brumqulst and bingo prizes went to Mrs. I. Regent To Pay Official Visit To Local Group , Next Saturday Crater Lake chapter, Daughters of the Amer ican Revolution, will be honor ed by the official visit of the Oregon state regent, Mrs. Bert B. A past grand master from Con necticut was present and gave a talk on Odd Fellowship and oth ers spoke. Refreshments were served by a committee from both lodges. Tex. 4H Demonstration Features Meeting Of Business Club A reoresentatlve group of 4-H club members entertained the Business and Professional Worn en's club at the Girls' Commun ity club Thursday evening. The club sponsors 4-H home econom ics projects in the county and presents a loving cup to the out standing home economics club each year. ' A camn cookery demonstra tion was presented by Billy Ferns and Rodney Thompson of Fern Valley, the boys mixing and bak ing a batch of baking powder bis cuits. A style revue of the blue ribbon winners in clothing pro jects included Charlotte Kent, Doreen Straus, Helen Harnlsh, Evelyn Ferns, Marian Wisdom and Pearl Henry. A demonstra tion of laying on a pattern and cutting out an apron was given by Margaret ReecUand Claudine Stallings of the Table Rock Clothing club. Earle Jossy, county club agent, thanked the club for their in terest in 4-H club work and told of fine quality of the home eco nomics work ,in Jackson county. Dessert was served at 8 o' doc. Mrs. Frank Myers of Table Rock and Mrs. E. R. Chamber lain of Eagle Point poured and were assisted in serving by Lucile Smith, Joan Doran and Jean Hamilton of the Table Rock club. Mrs. Wm. Ferns, Mrs. Les ter Carr, Mrs. C. A. Henry and Mrs. Arthur Kent, 4-H leaders were also present. Mrs. John Day gave a short talk on a project for the .senior Girl Scouts. Several familiar numbers in solo and group form were presented and much enjoyed by the au dience.. A "bell ringing" contest and a sandwich eating contest, participated in by four men of the lodge, lent much merriment to the program. Roberts Entertain At Dinner Party Mr. and Mrs. George M. Jackson left Thursday for her home In Pasco, Wash., after -a brief visit here with her mether, Mrs. .James Stewart, 336 Plum street. Mrs. Jackson came here from Klam ath Falls where she had been transacting business and was to stop in Portland to visit friends. Mr. Jackson Is a chief yeoman in the navy and is stationed at the Pasco naval station.
