' Receives Rating Floyd V. Young, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Young, Sr., of Talent, Ore., has received his rating of seaman second class according to information received by his parents. He Is stationed at the San Diego Naval Training cen ter. Examiner Coming A travel ing examiner of operators and chauffeurs will be at the K. P. hall Friday and Saturday from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. All those wish ing permits or licenses to drive cars are asked to get in touch with the examiner during these hours. Undergoes Operation Jan Dusenberry, seven - months - old twin son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dusenberry of Trail, underwent a successful mastoid operation at Sacred Heart hospital this morning, relatives report. The infant's twin brother has not been ill. Completes Course Pvt. Rob bert W. Holifield, son of Mrs. Hazel C. Holifield of Route 1, Box 131, Central Point, recent ly completed an intensive course in radio operator-mechanics at the AAF training command ra dio school, Sioux Falls, S. D., according to a dispatch from the school. ' Airmen Here Lt. Harold Grow and Lt. Bill O'Conell were in Medford Sunday and Mon day, spending the brief leave with Lt. Grow's wife and daugh ter, Nanette, 516 Fairmount street, and his parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. J. E. Grow, 221 South Grape street. Both officers are stationed at Kingman, Ariz., with the army air corps. Coleman Improved County Judge J. B. (Blin) Coleman, who has been confined to his home the past two weeks, spent a restful day and night the past 24 hours, his family reports, and shows some improvement. Nu merous calls are received daily at his office from friends and acquaintances throughout the 'county and city asking about his condition. . e e Meier Here Pvt. William Meier is in Medford visiting rel atives and friends, having ar rived in time to spend the holi days here. pvt. Meier Is a mem ber of a division now serving in the Philippines and has served two years overseas, Including 34 days of combat in the Aitape ' sector in New Guinea. Follow ing hi furlough, Pvt. Meier will return to Barnes General hos pital In Vancouver for medical treatment. Before entering the service he was employed at Fadgham's Planing mill, e . e Brothers On Leave Sgt. Jim Wright from Ft. Bennlng, Ga., and Cpl. Jack w. Wright, ma rine corps, visited their mother, Mrs. Dora Wright, recently. Cpl. 'Wright had returned from three years in the Southwest Pacific theater where he served with two famed marine battalions on Guadalcanal, receiving the Pres idential citation. Cpl. Wright was accompanied to Medford by his bride, the former Dea Jean Hardy of Klamath Falls, the couple having been married Dec. 24 in Sacramento, Calif. The newlyweds were guests at the Jackson Hotel for four days. Rose, who holds the distinguished flying cross with two oak leaf clusters and the air medal with three oak leaf clusters, left Medford yesterday after spending a holi day leave with his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Charles E. Rose, route 4, box 148. Lt. Rose returned to this country last fall after spending a year In England, where he was assigned to the 44th bombardment group, and In Ireland and Scotland. He Is now taking a refresher course at Vic- torville, CaL Awarding of the flying cross and medals resulting from bomb ing missions over Europe with the lieutenant serving as puoi of a B-24. One citation for the pilot read "for extraordinary achievement over enemy oc cupied territory March 26 1944. Lt. Rose's aircraft was severely damaged by enemy anti-aircraft fire over the tar get, suffering the loss '-of two engines. Lt. Rose, wltn superD airmanship and great skill safely returned to friendly terri tory and landed at nis nome base without further damage or inlurv to his crew. The flying ability and sound Judgment dis played by Lt.
