I LOCAL and On Laava -Ensign Shanahan, Medford high school graduate, arrived In Medford this week on a short leave. Ensign Shana han attended the University of Oregon prior to his enlistment to the navy. Car Stolen A 1937 model Ford sedan belonging to J. W. Fisher of iuamam Falls was stolen from a Medford street December 22, according to a state police report. It has not been recovered. i i Mere for Holidays Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Konkel and their granddaughter, Diane Wilson, of Portland, are houseguests this week of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bowen, Fluhrer apartments They plan to remain throughout the holidays. - On Furlough Pfc. Louis Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Powell, 414 Valleyvlew drive arrived recently from Camp Cook, Calif., to spend a Christ mas furlough with his parents Pfc. Powell is a graduate of Medford high school. .... On Furlough Pfc. George Bryant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bryant, 312 Reddy ave nue, arrived in Medford for Christmas to visit his parents. Pfc. Bryant is stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He is a graduate of Medford high school. Here From Alaska Mr. and Mrs. Leah Meadows of Wrangell. Alaska, are in Medford to visit Mr. Meadows' parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Meadows, 310 Port land avenue. Mr. Meadows has been engaged in the lumber business in Wrangell for the past seven years. Here From Portland Miss Mary Gritsch arrived In Med ford last week-end to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gritsch, 341 South Oakdale avenue. Miss Gritsch, a laboratory technician for Dr. Gifford Sytes of Port land, will return to Portland this next week-end. Bon Dies Larry Rae Stoll one of the twin sons born last July 4 to Lt. and Mrs. H. J. Stoll of Camp Barkley, Tex., passed away last Sunday noon according to Information receiv ed here by relatives. Funeral services were- Tuesday at Tay lor, Tex. Mrs. Stoll is the former Eunice Sanden of Jacksonville. e Williams Arrives Pvt. Don D. Williams has arrived in the United States on furlough from the Aleutians, where he served 20 months with the army corps of engineers, according to news release from the army ser vice forces at Ft. Douglas, Utah Pvt. Williams is the son of Mrs. Jessie Moores, 520 West Second street, On Furlough Pfc. Barton Clemens, son of Mr. and Mrs Cecil Clemens, 203 Vancouver avenue, arrived in Medford re cently on a short furlough to visit his parents. Pfc. Clemens is a student at the University of Oregon school of medicine in Portland. 'He graduated from Medford high school and attend ed the University of Oregon in . Eugene for pre-medical study. m In Italy Pfc. Dallis H. Zim merlee is in Italy with the 361st Infantry regiment according to a news release from the Fifth Army headquarters. The 381st is part of the 01 "Powder River" division, currently In the Florence-Bologna drive. The regi ment landed In Italy last May 31, the news release states and was one of the units that took the Albano Hills and Lake Al bano, making possiblo the fall of Rome. Pfc. Zimmerlee Is a can noneer with the regiment. ... Completes Mission Sidney Thurston, yeoman first class in the navy, who has been sta tioned in the naval research laboratory, Washington, D. C. has returned to that city after completing a mission which took him to the combat regions of the Pacific by plane. Thurston left Washington the last of Novem ber. On his return trip he stop ped in Hawaii and visited his brother, Jim, aviation machin ists' mate first class. The men had not seen each other for near ly three years. Lt. .Herman graduated from Medford high school and attended Oregon State college prior tp entering the service. Accident Walter J. Williams, 714 Palm street, was slightly in jured Sunday when the passen ger car he was driving was in volved in a collision with a pas senger car operated by Elmer E. Wilson, 422 Beatty street, ac cording to a report on file. The accident took place on Highway 62, the report said. Brinson Home James Brin- son, RT 3'c, spent a brief Christ mas leave in Medford with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Brinson, Cargill Court. Brinson is taking advanced radio and radar training at the naval train ing school on Treasure Island Brinson returned to San Fran cisco Christmas night. Robbery A generator, head light a plastic airplane model and one wheel and tire were stolen Monday night from Simm's Bros. Cycle shop on 23 North Fir street, according to a police report. She was born in Wichita, Kan., on August 4, 1871. Mrs. Snow is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Milton, of Rogue River, and Mrs. L. B. Smith of Vancouver, Wash three sons, W. A. Snow of Port land. Walter M. Snow of Van couver, and H. F. Snow of Lo- ean. Mont.: a brother, w. m Bielby of Rogue River, and 12 grandchildren.
