Til TO GET B!GBUDGET Salem, Ore., Dec. 23-U.F9 A budget calling for the expen diture of $195,816,426 during the next two years will be sub mitted to the 194S legislature in January, the budget division of the state announced today. The sum approved by the bud get division is $3,285,718 less than the total amount of re quests submitted, Governor Earl Snell, who is also chief budget officer, said. ADDroval was given for the exDendlture of $28,777,500 for the administration of state gov ernment and the operation of departments and institutions sup ported from the general fund. This amount was the result of trimming, the requested amount Of $30,038,541.42. EXPECT SHORTAGE OF SAWDUST FUEL Portland, Ore., Dee. 23 (U.R) A shortage of sawdust fuel ex pected to continue until January 15 or later may have far-reach- ins effects on planing mills when the emergency is over. George W. Curry, district OPA fuel rationing specialist, said representatives of more than 30 Portland sawdust dis tributors conferred with OPA of ficials today In an attempt to in- sure delivery to the neediest users. Reconversion of household furnaces to wood and coal was urged by the OPA, which ex plained that present wood and coal stocks are ample for Port land s needs. Washington, Dee. 23 Oh! To be a horse. At' least that's what the fam ily of Senator-elect Wayne Morse, Republican, Oregon, is beginning to sigh. Mrs. Morse has found home here for their two saddle horses. But none for the family. The family, awaiting arrival of Mr. Morse, has been taken in by friends. Mrs. Morse hopes they're en route again. For, after all, the horses do have a home awaiting them.
