SIX MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE Member Initiated By Juvenile Clab Maradee Coffman was initiated Into the Juvenile Degree of Honor club at a meeting Novem ber 11 at the home of the di rector, Mrs. Ida M. Wilson, 7 Chestnut street. Reglna Mark, president, presided and Mildred Ann Gail of Gold Hill acted as second vice-president. Accordion numbers were play ed by Bertha and Freddie Mil ler, Mrs. Wilson read a prayer and a poem. Games were played and prizes awarded, Baby Hill yer and Maradee Coffman win ning prizes for the best caps. The afternoon closed with re freshments. , Mrs. Clyde Hillyard was an adult guest and Bobbie Forsee was a Juvenile guest, . Next meeting of the group will be December 9, the place to be announced later. Scout Troop Holds Party On Saturday ' Girl Scout troop 5 of the Jack son school held a party Satur day afternoon, November 11, at the home of the troop leader, Mrs. W. B. Finch, 1309 Locust street. The girls danced the Vir ginia reel, played games, en joyed group singing and then ate hot dogs and popcorn around an outdoor fireplace. Present were Anita Thomas, Donna Rainey, Deloris Smiley, Marlene Moulton, Janet Blum, June ' Chamberlain, Betty An- seth, Martha Loiland and two visitors, Virginia Richmond and Joy Finch. i ' Visitors From Astoria Honored With Dinner Mrs. Arthur Charest and her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Mjelde, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Beaton, 716 Grant street, over the Armistice day week end, arriving late Sat urday night and returning to Mrs. MJelde's home in Astoria on Monday .morning.' The two guests, - sister and niece of Mrs. Beaton, were en tertained at dinner at Bur goyne's Sunday evening. Beaton, and Mr. and Mrs. John Maass. , Mrs. Charest makes her home in Fergus Falls, Minn., but Is in Oregon for an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. Mjelde, who is manager of a ladles' ready-to-wear shop In Astoria. On Leave Lt. Austin Murray, Army Air Corps, arrived in Med ford recently on a short leave to visit his mother, Mrs. I. D. Mur ray, 1033 West 11th street, Lt. Citation Sgt. Clarence L. Smith, Rt. 2, Medford, is a mem ber of an AAF B-28 Marauder bomber group In the Mediter rannean theater that has been cited by the war department for "outstanding performance ' of duty in armed conflict with thex enemy." This entitles Sgt. Smith to wear the Distinguished Unit Badge, mark of the highest cita tion awarded to units of the American armed forces. Sgt. Smith has been overseas since April, 1944. Before entering the army In December, 1941, he was a building contractor. Smith was a student at Oregon State college and a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.
