TE If MEDFORD MAIL TMBOrTE Your Health and Its Care BY OR. WILLIAM BRADY. M. D. Readers should address loqulrtu tot Dr. William Brady t6S CI CamlBO. feeverly Hills. Calli. OUR READERS CONDUCT THE COLUMN ir ..in (he term i rcH pnvploDe" was tm,-t inr nt course the en- v e l o pe aoes . , I not address It self. I have roamed about mentally for a word to take the place of self - address ed, and have finally come upon "pre address e d", which, as I see It. would Dl. Brad do the work, without being open to dispute , or misunderstanding. (A. D. B.) It impressed me, too, but still I'm afraid to try It without ot tering this explanation first. Readers hove an infinite caps-, city for misunderstanding and If I mull It over time and again and finally release it for print ing with every assurance that it will appear as written, there is still the hazard of a misprint. , "Pre-addressed" - suits well .enough, but we'll have to break It gently. Now here Is a round robin (three signatures) which, I sus pect, is the work of a student of dentistry or perhaps a dentist. Although three names are sign ed,' they are all in the same handwriting. ; Be that as it may, the letter raises a subtle question: "In your article . . . you said "These are authorities to whom I refer dentists or doctors'. . . ' "Do you mean by this state ment that dentists aren't doc tors? After all, dentists are qualified as much as physicians to be called doctors. Don't you realize that both medical men and dental men receive a min imum of six years of. training in their respective schools, at the end of which time they re ceive a doctor's degree? "We realize it is really .a grammatical error, but it has a .degrading effect on the dental profession - in that it implies that dentists are not ; doctors. ADULT LEADERS NEEDED IN GIRL IN Mora than 80 adult leaders are needed this year to carry on the greatly expanded Girl Scout program In Medford, ac cording to Mrs. John Larwood, chairman of the organization committee of the Medford Girl Scout Council. "Girl Scout national member ship has been boosted from 671 000 at the time of Pearl Harbor to more than a million today," Mrs. Larwood stated. "Interest in Scouting in Medford and out lying districts in Jackson coun' ty would almost double our membership in the organization if adequate leadership could be obtained. Many more women are, needed to help the girls continue ! their Scout training." Training Given Explaining that volunteers are given the training necessary to Girl Scout leadership, Mrs. Lar wood said that any woman over 21, with a liking for youngsters, a strong belief in democracy and two or three hours a week to give to activities outside her home is eligible as a troop lead er. "Women who have worked In Girl Scouting through the war years have found great satisfac tion in doing their share on the youth front'," she said. "Those who enter Scouting now, when all of the plans and possibilities for post-war activities are beinit explored, will find the chances for Important national service even greater. Tho end of the war won't see the send o the prob lems which have put young peo ple Into the headlines too often." Need Help Now Mrs. Larwood pointed out that as the emergency war services relax, many women who have received valuable training and experience, will have time to look for opportunities for put ting their energy and skill to good use. "Who needs them more than the girls who will be to morrow's citizens?" she asked. "But girls can't wait to grow up until their mothers, sisters. , YICK SO CHINESE HERB CO. .uil Removed to Sparta Bid:. I B. L J H. Laong, Harballtt Sunday. Wot. II, I4 You should have said dentists lor physicians. Are we not cor- rect? r! I ioihw G. P. R. V. T. . , R. H. B." You are right. Else it would not be Homer. But answer me this, son. Whenever in an emer gency there is a call for a doctor do you or does any one have the slightest doubt what doctor means? More than that. I have now relinquished and abandoned the attempt to persuade dentists to use that unmentionable' trade name I proposed for them In stead of "Doctor". Believe it or not I was ashamed and embar rassed when, in revising the booklet "Save Your Teeth" I found that name on nearly every page. Now I hope dentists every where will send .me a pre-addressed stamped envelope , so that I may send them a copy of the revised booklet. Physicians, too. Others . who want that booklet must send 25 cents and pre-addressed stamped envelope. QUESTIONS ANSWERS Boned Lis , , . On bowed lege be made tht by any exercise, manage, correfttye ap paratus? They need the fun, guidance and opportunities for service in Scouting now to day," she continued. "Scouting has helped many a girl "weather the difficulties of wartime; it can be ait even greater force In helping girls through the changes that will come with' post-war readjustments. Women who en list - in Girl Scouting now will have the thrill and satisfaction of taking an active part in the solving of many of our country's post-war problems." To Enroll Leaders Mrs. Larwood announced that before the year is out, special effort will be made to enroll at least 50 Women as leaders and assistant leaders of Girl Scout troops. She invited all women who are interested in learning more about opportunities for service in Girl Scouting to call at or phone the Girl Scout of fice at 500 East Main. Sgt.
