LOCAL and Fined Carl Robert McKin ney, 32, was fined $10 in city court today for disorderly con duct. Permit A. H. Webster made application in the City Record er's office, Saturday, for a per mit to make general repairs on his residence at 401 East 12th street, Transferred Miss Anne M Helman, who has been employed in the office of the post engineers at Camp White since the office was established, has been trans ferred to Ft. Lewis. She is the daughter of Mrs. J. H. Helman, 420 Pearl street. To Have Feed An oyster stew feed will precede the meet ing of the Jackson county chap ter No. 8, Disabled American Veterans. Tuesday, In the arm ory. The feed will be at 6:30 p. m. and will be followed by the regular meeting at 8 p. m. Hams Leave Mrs. E. T. Ham and daughters, Dorothy, Vir ginia, Carol and Edith, leave to morrow to join Mr. Ham in San Francisco where he is with the Southern Pacific Railroad com pany. The Hams will make their home at 49 Homestead street, San Francisco. In Police Court Owen Hun saker, 23 Lincoln street, was fined $2.50 in police court to day for driving a car without an operator's license. Mayme Rob , erts, 635 North Central, was fined $1.00 for parking her car across the sidewalk. Transferred Here 'Fritz Mor rison, junior forester, has been transferred to the Medford of fice of the Rogue River National Forest service from the Siskiyou service at Grants Pass. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison and their small son have taken up residence at 819 Palm street. Completes Training Sgt. Ar ils Cowan of Medford has com pleted training and been grad uated from Chanute Field, AAF training command, according to a news release from the field. He received special Instruction In electronics. Mrs. Cowan makes her home at 620 South Ivy street. Minor Accident Flossie Elouise Hull, Jacksonvi He, drove a passenger car involved in a minor accident with a bus, Saturday, according to a report on file. Richard Ellis, 502 Haven street, and James Adelstone, Los Angeles, drove passenger cars involved in a minor colli sion on Riverside Avenue, Sat urday, according to another re port on file. Elected President Miss Al pha Whillock, daughter of Mrs. Edith H. Whillock of this city, has been elected president of Alpha Lambda Delta, sophomore woman's honor society at Ore gon State college. Miss June Jar min, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Jarmin, also of Medford, has been appointed a committee chairman of A)pha Lambda Del ta. A student must earn a high grade point average in her fresh man year to be eligible for the honorary. Misting City police have been asked to help locate Jesse James Edgman and four year old son, James, who are be lieved to be in this vicinity, by relatives of the missing persons in La Crescenta, Calif. Edgman is 53 years old, six feet, four inches tall, and weighs 127 pounds. He has red hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. The mother of Mrs. Geneva Griffith has asked city police to help lo cate her daughter who has been in Medford visiting friends. Mrs. Griffith is 24, five feet, 10 inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds. Leland Jones, speaking before the American Osteopathic Association, said that a sharp Increase in cases of heart disease could be expec ted among service men in particular and civilians. This increase being due to the results of the shock and strain of war. However. Dr. Jones thinks this markei increase) will be functional rather than or panic. Reckless Drivers Jack Stalls worth, Cherry Lane, and Eldon Nelson, 408 Beatty street, were fined $15 apiece In city police court today for reckless driving. Stallsworth and Nelson were charged with racing their cars side by side, up East Main street, Sunday afternoon. A tire on Nel son's car blew out at the top of the hill. Judge Woodford warned the offenders that any further misuse of gasoline would result in their A-Books and driv ers' licenses being suspended TAKENJY DEATH John Harry Jones passed away Saturday. Mr. Jones was born Nov. 13, 1876, In Ken tucky, and moved at an early age to Brown County, Ohio, where he was married to Nora M. Purdum In 1898. They lived In Ohio until 1911, when the family moved to Medford. Two children, Stanley C. Jones, of Medford, and Edna H. Pollet of South Gate, Calif., sur vive. He was married to Elizabeth Temple In September 1938, who survives, as does a sister, Mrs. J. H. West of Ripley, Ohio. Mr. Jones entered the em ploy of the California Oregon Power Co., In 1918. He retired at the age of 83 and has since been active In lodge and frater nal circles. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, Knights of Pythias, of which he was Past Order of D.O.K.K. and the Pythian Sis ters. He was a member of the Presbyterian church since early childhood. There are four grandchildren: Stanley Jones, Jr., Kenneth Harry Jones, Betty Gale Pollet and John Elton Pollet. Funeral service will be grad uated from Perl Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p. m., the Rev. Louis C. Kirby, pastor of the first Methodist church officiat ing. Interment will be in Med ford 1. O. O. John H. Shull, 32, of (NSA) Shady Cove, Ore., crew chief, has been awarded the distin guished unit badge as a member of the 15th army air force Lib erator bomber group which has been cited for "outstanding per formance of duty In armed con flict with the enemy." Sgt. Shull has also been award- ed the good conduct medal, it was announced by the 15th army air force. In the words of the citation which accompanied this award, Sgt. Shull's work has "demonstrated fidelity through faithful and exact performance of duty, efficiency through ca pacity to produce desired re sults." It also mentioned that his "behavior has been such as to deserve emulation." Commanded by Lt. Col. Jos eph G. Russell of San Antonio, Tex., the Rroup received the dis tinguished unit badge, the na tion's highest organization award, for an attack on the air craft factories at Wiener Neu stadt, Austria, on May 10.
