Heart bailments
It is known that heart ailments
have been on the increase. But
Dr. J. Leland Jones, speaking
before the American Osteopathic
Association, said that a sharp
Increase in cases of heart disease
could be expec ted among service
men in particular and civilians.
This increase being due to the
results of the shock and strain
of war. However. Dr. Jones
thinks this markei increase) will
be functional rather than or
panic. The hich speed and noise
nf trucks, airplanes, etc.. would
produce conditions that result in
functional heart troubles. Also,
the overwork, worry, and fear
among the civilian population
would produce such nerve strain
and tens:on as to cause manv to
uecumh to functional ailments
of various organs and especially
of the heart..
