Pheasant Crashes Window A pheasant crashed through the front window at the home of Stan Shafer, 15 South New town, Tuesday afternoon. Sha fer stated that the crash caused "somewhat of a mess" in the living room of his home. Navy Steward Mrs. Beulah Brown of Medford received word today that her son, Lee C. Brown has been appointed chief commissary steward at Pasco, Washington, naval air station. Brown has been in the navy for three years, two of which were spent in Alaska. Returns To So. Pacific El don C. Deen, who has spent four months in the Naval hospital at Bremerton, Wash., has been returned to the South Pacific, according to word received by his mother, Mrs. Hazel Dean, 409 Hill avenue. Vilas, of South Oakdale avenue, left yesterday for an ex tended visit in California. Miss Vilas plans to visit friends in San Francisco and Los Angeles. On her return she will enter the I University of Oregon for winter term. Mrs. Kurti Leaves Mrs. Ef fie Kurtz, 204 North Ivy street, left last night for Portland on a brief business trip. She will return to Salem for the district convention of Zonta Interna tional to be held there Satui day and Sunday. Mrs. Kurtz is vice-president for the district. A number of other members of the Medford Zonta club plan to attend the district meeting. Miss Holmes re ceived her junior certificate at the University of Oregon, and is now majoring in sociology. Miss Tengwald Home Miss Carol Tengwald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Y. Tengwald of Kings highway, has returned to Medford from Portland, Ore., where she was the house guest of Mrs. Richard A. Ralston. Be fore she visited in Portland, Miss Tengwald stayed at the Pi Beta Pi house on the University of Oregon campus during rush week. Need Wrappings An appeal for Christmas wrapping paper was made today by Miss Vera Humphrey of the Junior Red Cross who stated that the office is using large quantities of the wrappings for packages which will go to refugee children in liberated countries. National Distillers, which opened on a 6,500-share block, topped the list in turnover with Texas Pacific Land Trust second.
