GEORGE RAFT IN CRATERIAN BILL Orson Welles, Marlene Diet rich In Cast 'Marine , Raiders' At Rialto "Follow the Boys," widely heralded all-star film which comes to the screen of the Cra- DANCE TOES. NITE OCT. 17 SCHOOL GYM BENEFIT Troop 2 Boy Scoutt Everyone Invited Admission 35e terlan theatre foday, Is some thing more than a pictorial pa rade of some two score of Hol lywood's greatest personalities, although it is all of that. Such names as George Raft, Vera Zorina, Orson Welles, Mar lene Dietrich, Jeanette Mac Donald, Dinah Shore, W. C. Fields, Sophie Tucker, Donald O'Connor, the Andrews Sisters, Charles Butterworth., Maria Montez and Susanna Foster In the same cast attest to that. "Follow the Boys," for Its sheer entertainment content, is as good a piece as Hollywood has turned out in this war. "Follow the Boys," faithful ly records the contributions of show people to morale at home and abroad, and sketches the founding and the functions of the Hollywood Victory Commit tee. That record needs no em bellishment, and the film at tempts none. Musically, "Follow the Boys." Is exceptionally varied and mel odic, running the full scale of personal tastes, from boogie- Iwoogie to the pianistic genius I of Artur Rubinstein. I "Marine Raiders" and "Silent Partner" top the Rialto bill to- ! day. " 1 1 iM1 LOCAL and PERSONAL Cae Utn Tribune Want Ada. SAY ENTERTAINERS Sgt. Roger J. Hcadlee, sta tioned in Assam, India, with Die China Burma India command, has written friends here con cerning that section of the thea ter of war, which never sees entertainment of any kind with the exception of mail call and work. According to Headlee the rains are heavy and Die cloud formations beyond description. Headlee's letter follows in part: "Here at A P O, Assam, India, we have a problem that I believe will Interest the folks at home. In the line of enter tainment things are a bit dull and when the letter writing, reading and such- are finished and no longer hold our interest we look for something else to pass the time. Then out of a rainy sky comes an announcement that some of our Hollywood friends will pay us a visit to help boost morale we talk of the coming event, count days to see if we will be scheduled to work that night, and generally plan for their coming, hoping it won't ram too hard. "But time passes and nothing is seen or heard of them. It finally comes out that she got sick, he remembered a previous engagement back in North Af rica, or some such Hollywood excuse. So we never see them and have given up hope of ever seeing our Hollywood friends up here where it Just begins to gei fough or 'too rough' as Miss Sheridan said. "Here are some figures from the editorial (Sept. 28 issue of CBI Roundup) on the agree ments entered Into by our Hol lywood friends who give so much to 'our boys' and 'the war effort'. Joel McCrea billed for 60 days got as far as Cairo and heard tell that 'CBI was tough'; Paulette Goddard and Co., 54 days out of a promised 60: Joe Brown, 120 days, they played 37 and decamped. "This doesn't apply to the real troupers that came and stayed over (heir time, but it is facts about some of the big names that many of us help support and at one time enjoyed seeing in a show. "We think It Is tough here also and didn't travel by air on our trip over." Headlee was employed by the Pacific Telephone and Tele graph company here prior to his entrance in the armed serv ice. His wife, Mrs. Mary Jane Headlee, resides at Central Point with her mother, Mrs. Bcebe. Classes at S. O. C. E Select Officers Southern Oregon College of Education, Ashland, Oct. 14.
