LOCAL and Flashlight Stolen Roy F. Marks of Jacksonville highway, reported to city police today that a flashlight had been taken from his car at 1002 South Central avenue. Car Found A black coupe, stolen from Grants Pass, was fnund at Ninth and Central in Medford this morning by cityi police. &iaie ponce were imme. diately notified. Files J. Fred Baker filed ap plication In the city superinten dent's office today to put a new cement foundation in a residence j at 1813 West Main street at a stated cost of $150. I Transferred Eldora Roberts, HAl-c, who was a recent visitor at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Roberts, 306 North Central avenue, has been transferred to Jacksonville, Fla. She has been stationed at the navy hospital, Treasure Island at San Francisco, Calif. Arrives Home T. Sgt. Joe Farley, Jr., has arrived in Med ford for a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Earley, Holland Hotel. He has been on duty in Great Britain with the army air corps for the past two and a half years in the clerical department of an army air corps fighter unit. Home Lee Allen, boatswain, 1-c, Seabees, arrived home Wed nesday morning for a 30 day stay with his mother, Mrs. Lee Allen, 321 North Ivy street. Allen, who has been overseas for 19 months has been stationed in the South Pacific war theater, most recently on Guadalcanal. He enlisted over two years ago and prior to enlistment was em ployed by Hubbard Brothers. He is also visiting his sister, Mrs. Roland Hubbard. Kills Deer Earl Woolridge, Jacksonville highway, killed a 160 pound four point Blacktail deer in the Applegate district today. "Blin" Coleman of this city and Mr. and Mrs Herman Offenbacher, of Applegate, are expected to ar rive home over the week-end af ter spending the past two weeks at coast points. Enter School June Marilyn Davis and Eisel Eileen Beck, graduates of the 1944 class of the Phoenix high school, en tered the Southern Oregon Col lege of Education as freshmen Oct. 2. Miss Davis enrolled for the liberal arts and science course and Miss Beck in secre tarial science. Miss Davis is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Davis and Miss Beck's parents are Mr. and Mrs. A. Beck of Phoenix. The two young wom en are making their home at 423 Mountain avenue in Ash land while attending school. Displays Grapes C. A. Learned, orchardist of the Grif fin Creek district has several large bunches of Tokay grapes on display at the Jackson Coun ty Chamber of Commerce. One of these bunches weighs three and one-half pounds and Mr. Learned believes this is un usually large for this type of grape, even when irrigated. His were grown without any irriga tion. Learned has one acre of ground planted in Tokay grapes and seven acres of Bosc and Cornice pears. These also are not irrigated but this season have grown larger than ordi nary pears of these varieties, the orchardist states. Graduates Lt. John H. Neil son graduated recently at Kirt land Field, New Mexico and was awarded the silver bom bardier's wings of the army air corps. In New Mexico for the graduation ceremonies were the lieutenant's wife, his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Neilson of 436 North Bartlett street, and Mrs. John Ncilson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Harwood, 502 Park avenue. Lt. Neilson is a returned veteran, having spent 22 months in the South Pacific with the ground forces prior to volunteering for flight training in January of this year. He is a graduate of Medford high school and later attended the University of Ore gon. Lt. Neilson was commis sioned in the army ground forces in December of 1940. To Ashland A number of! Medford football fans are expect-! ed to be in attendance at thej Ashland-Klamath Falls football game being held tonight at the Ashland stadium. Visiting Here Pvt. C. C. Al len and Mrs. Allen are visiting in Medford for several weeks. Pvt. Allen has been stationed at Mitchell Field, Long Island with the ground force of the army air corps. Mrs. Allen has been residing in Fresno. They are the brother and sister-in-law of W. H. Allen, 1008 East Jackson street. 2:200 PLANES IN ATTACK ON BERLIN London, Oct. 6 U.R) The Americans sent more than 2,200 warplanes against Berlin and other targets in Germany today, and great, whirling air battles developed as the Luftwaffe rose I to challenge one of the largest i aerial armadas ever dispatched over the Reich for a single series of attacks. Flying a 1,000-mile round trip 1.250 heavy bombers escorted by perhaps 1,000 fighters plastered four war plants in Berlin and seven other targets spread over a 200-mile long area. It was Ber lin's 167 air attack of the war.
