2:200 PLANES IN
ATTACK ON BERLIN
London, Oct. 6 U.R) The
Americans sent more than 2,200
warplanes against Berlin and
other targets in Germany today,
and great, whirling air battles
developed as the Luftwaffe rose I
to challenge one of the largest i
aerial armadas ever dispatched
over the Reich for a single series
of attacks.
Flying a 1,000-mile round trip
1.250 heavy bombers escorted by
perhaps 1,000 fighters plastered
four war plants in Berlin and
seven other targets spread over
a 200-mile long area. It was Ber
lin's 167 air attack of the war.
