Bashful Japanese Lose 16 Planes to Tricky Americans Washington, Sept. 19 (U.R) The navy reported today that Japanese pilots on island bases are trying to save themselves and their planes by taking off at the first word of an approach ing American attack and keep ing out of the area until the strike is over. The navy described the Ja panese technique in relating how four carrier-based U.
