An drew Lee Matney who has been home on furlough for the past week visiting relatives and . friends, left last night for Greensboro, N. C. He has been stationed recently with the army air corps at Scott Field, 111. In Navy Charlu. Elton Wal dron, 630 S. Holly St., enlisted in the U. S. naval reserve Aug. I 16. He is the 17-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Elton Wal dron. Waldron is now home on inactive duty awaiting his call to a navy training center, ac cording to H. W. Crain, recruit ing officer in charge of the Med ford navy recruiting station. Stinson Leaves Ray Stinson . left Sunday for Monterey, Ca)jf., to report to the army air corps for training. From Mon terey the young man will go to Amarillo, Tex., for his first pe riod of training as an aviation student. Stinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stinson, 1219 West Tenth street, was a stu dent at Medford senior high Echool last year. Mansfield Leaves Cpl. Bill Mansfield left Saturday morn ing after spending a 10-day fur lough with his wife and son at the home of Mrs. Mansfield's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Her- . manson, 502 S. Grape St. Cpl. , Mansfield is an instructor at . Fort Riley, Kan., in mechanized cavalry. Before entering the army last December, he was . employed at the Buster Brown Shoe Store. e Graduates Among the mem bers of a patrol service unit which graduated recently from the Hutchinson Naval Air Sta tion In Kansas was Jack C. ' Orey, aviation radioman third class, of Medford, according to a news dispatch from Kansas. Orey will now be a member of a navy Liberator patrol bomber crew. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Orey, 53 North Peach street. Receives Souvenirs C. J. Williams of Route 1 received a package of souvenirs last week from his son, Marshall K. Wil liams, who is with the 5th army in Italy. The young man has been stationed overseas for 17 months. Included in the assort ment are several passports and other German identification cards with photographs, a saber, range finder and helmet and a large flag, along with personal photographs of civilians. Eagles Meeting Crater Lake Aerie No. 2093 and auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, will meet in regular session in the Eagles hall, 219 W. Main St., Thursday at 8 p. m. Both the aerie and auxiliary will have . initiation and plans will be made for the celebration of the 18th birthday of the local aerie, Aug. 27. Schuler, 112 Medford Heights, returned home Monday from San Fran cisco where he spent several days on business. OBITUARY RACHEL E. BOYLES Rachel Elizabeth Boyles passed away at a local hospital early Wednesday. Mrs. Boyles was born in Green county, Missouri, Dec. 16, 1858. She came to Ore gon some thirty years ago and for the last year has made her home here with her daughter, Miss Rae Boyles. Mrs. Boyles is survived by two daughters. Miss Boyles, of Medford, and Mrs. Leland Shep herd, Silverton, Ore. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister in the middlewest. Funeral services will be held at Mollala, Oregon, Saturday. The Perl Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements here. CALVIN P. THOMASON Calvin- P. TBomason, a resl dent of Central Point for the past 22 years, passed away in a local hospital this morning at the age of 72. He had been fail ing in health for several months. He is survived by two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Hattie Tow er, Palouse, Wash., Mrs. Alice Hood and Willis R. Thomason Medford. Arrangements are in care of the Conger-Morris chapel.
