1 LOCAL and At School Sidney Bouck music instructor in the Medford school system, is in Eugene (or the summer and has enrolled in a summer school music course. He was accompanied to Eugene by his family. Californlans Here Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Hawley of Modesto, Calif., are in Medford visiting Mr. Hawley's son, A. L. Haw ley, Route 4, Box 89B, and Mrs. Hawley's daughter, Mrs. Jess Tresham of Gold Hill. Buy Home Mr. and Mrs. George D. Hook and two chil dren of Florence, Calif., have purchased the Bosche home at Shady Cove. They are staying with Mr. and Mrs. Olson of Shady Cove until they can take possession of the house. Dance Announced Members of the MarKettes were remind ed today by Mrs. Ruth Boyd, director of the MarKade, that the dance scheduled for tomor row night at the center will be a formal affair. Members of this Junior hostess group are asked to arrive promptly at 8 o'clock. Lieutenant Here Lt. Clifford Yerman will leave this evening after visiting in Medford with his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Knips, Rt. 2. Lt. Yerman has just returned to this country after duty in the South Pacific war theater. His wife, the for mer Alberta Knips, is an army nurse on duty in Hawaii. Transferred Lt. and Mrs. Carl G. Casperson have recent ly moved from Ardmore, Okla., to Salina. Kan., to which base Lt. Casperson was assigned after receiving his commission in the statistical deptartment of the Army Air Forces at Harvard university. Mrs. Casperson is the former Avonne Rae, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rae, reside at 819 Bennett St, Examiner Coming A travel ing examiner of operators and chauffeurs will be in Medford Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24, it was announced today from the office of the secretary of state. All those wishing per mits or licenses to drive cars are asked to get in touch with the examiner, who will be at the K. of P. hall between the hours of 0 a. m. and 5 p. m. on those days. Miss Van Llue wen was the most outstanding graduate of her class and had excellent grades for the term. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Van Lluewen of Washington, D, C. Mr. Van Lluewen is employed by the government as an entomologist and has his laboratory near Washington. John Phillips, R., Cel., to day filed in the House a peti tion signed by 489 persons in his district asking him "to take the necessary action" to prevent the return of Japanese and peo ple of Japanese ancestry who were removed from California after Pearl Harbor. Phillips said he brought the petition to the attention of the House "because this Is a prob lem which should have the very serious consideration of the peo ple in the east who do not un derstand tl)e problems which California faces."
