LOCAL and Returni A. S. Rosenbaum re- turned to Medford yesterday from a week's visit with rela tives and friends In San Fran cisco. Returns Here Miss Susan Vilas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Vilas of Rt. 3, arrived home yesterday after a, short vacation in Portland. Miss Vilas is a stu dent at the University of Oregon. Milnes Away Victor Milnes, Medford manager of the Western Oil and Burner company, left this morning for Klamath Falls on business for the firm. He will return to Medford Tunday night. On Leave Kome on leave from Farragut, Ida., is William P. Orlow, seaman second class, 728 Summit Ave. Seaman Orlow is visiting his mother Mrs. Wilda Krugger, other relatives and friends. He will return to his base June 20. Orlow enlisted in the navy April 7 through the Medford recruiting station. 7 ... To Texas Cpl. Maxwell S. Marvin and wife left yesterday for Camp Walters, Tex. Cpt. Marvin has been home on an 18 day furlough visiting his wife u of 936 Riverside avenue and his mother, Mrs. W. J, Davis of Phoenix. A member of the in fantry, Cpl. Marvin will take further training in Texas. ... In Medford Capt. James R. Swan of the Royal Canadian Odrnance corps is visiting friends in Medford for "several days before continuing on to his station in British Columbia. Capt. Swan was stationed at Camp White for several months last winter observing military tactics of the U. S. army here. From Camp White he was trans ferred to San Luis Obispo for further training. ... Announce Plans Additional details concerning the dance and picnic supper which is to be given Sunday by men of the 796th Forestry Engineers at their bivouac camp near Medford, have been announced by Mrs. Ruth Holmes Boyd, chairman of the Volunteer Service corps. The dance and supper will have a "Paul Bunyan" theme, the SCU orchestra will play for dancing at an outdoor pavilion, the men will provide and serve the picnic supper and an excursion through the portable sawmill which is a part of the camp is planned. Young women planning to at . tend are asked to be at the River J side USO at 1 p. m. and the af fair will end at 6:30 p. m. Mrs. Boyd states that hostesses plan ning to attend should wear slack suits and take a Jacket since the weather may be cool. Crawford, seaman second class, is spending a 10-day leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Crawford of 531 Berrydale avenue. Crawford, who has been at the navy train ing center at Farragut," Ida., will report to his duty station on June 22. He was enlisted In the navy April 7 through the local recruiting station. ... Versatile WAC Pfc. Jean L. Fraedrlck, daughter of Mr. E. E. Froedrick of Prospect, Ore., is a most versatile member of the WAC, according to a release from the Headquarters Air Serv ice Command. A graduate cook, she has been assigned to mess hall 3, Air Service Command Headquarters. When the Main tenance Data Section needed help on a rush job, they called on Pfc. Fraedrick to do typing. And, in addition, she has been called out into the field to do recruiting. She says she likes "just everything" about the WAC. Pfc. Fraedrick is the third member of her immediate family to Join the armed forces a brother is in the Marines, and a sister, Cpl. Frances A. Fraed rick, is in the Air Forces at Colo rado Springs.
