Nelson was reported "missing in action" after a bomb ing raid over Germany last sum mer, and three months later notified his wife that he had es caped safely and was returning to the United States. Russell, Jr., who was home on lenve to spend Christmas with his wife and daughter, Deanna, left Mon day to return to Gulf Port. Miss where he Is in training in the Navy Seabees. He has been in the service since August of this year, and since that time has re ceived trainlne at Camn Peary, Va., and Camp Endicott, R. I., before going to Gulf Port To Attend Game Melvln Plaskett and son, Bill, left this morning for San Francisco where they will attend the annual East West game sponsored by the bhriners. Coach Babe Holllng berry of the West is a personal friend of Mr. Plaskett. and will be visited by the Medford fans, They will return Sunday: The Plaskett home is at 11 Highland drive. - Son Born Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Knight of Corvalllr are the parents of a boy. born Dec. 23, according to word received here. The child, named David Taylor, weighed seven pounds and 11 ounces at birth. Mrs. Knight is the former Betty Yocom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Yocom, 415 Laurel street. She is a graduate of Med ford high school. Mr. Knight is stationed at Corvallls with an army unit. see Navy Men Here Two- Med ford men home on leave are Wrenyard W. They are visiting local friends and relatives, and will return to duty this week at Gulf Port, La. Both were for merly employed by COPCO, and enlisted in the Seabees on Aug. 19 through the Medford navy recruiting office. Miss Hard Here Mrs. E. H. Hurd of 1138 West Tenth St.. had as her guest during the Christmas holidays her daugh ter, Miss Anna Hurd of Port land. Miss Hutd is on the staff of the Portland Council of Social agencies. She came to Portland In November following comple tion of a two-year graduate course in social studies at the School of Applied Social Science. University of Pittsburgh. Steel Alice Lee Harvey Ex-ResUent, Dies Mrs. Alice Lee Harvey, for mer Medford resident, died Christmas day In San Francisco, according to word received by friends in the valley. Mrs. Har vey lived here many years ago, moving to San Francisco 25 years ago. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at the Halsted & Co. mortuary in San Francisco. Mrs. Harvey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Audrey H. Peant of Petaluma, Calif., Miss Gladys and Miss Phyllis Harvey Transameriea of San Francisco and son, Leo lie V.
