Due to the war, the affairs will tend to be ; less elaborate than usual,. One dance which will attract many persons is tnat planned at the Elks' club. This danc Is traditional with the lodge and Is always a festive party. Officers state that the party this year Is only for members and wives, but that any Elk is welcome to at tend. An orchestra will play for dancing and after midnight sup per will be served. A supply of pre-war noiiemakers will be dis tributed to welcome In the new year. In charge of the party are Ed Milne, Victor Kengla. Jack Boyl and Dr. E. L. Perkins. On the post, special New Tear's Eve parties are planned at both service clubs and at the three officers' clubs the regular Saturday night social events have been set up to Friday night for 'the new year celebration. No elaborate plans are being made for these affairs, to be held at the SCU 1913 Officers' club, the Officers club of the 96th Divis ion and the Fourth Army Of ficers' club, since the army of ficers must be on duty Saturday as usual. Preceding the dance at the SCU Officers' club, a group of officers and their wives will be entertained by Brig. Gen. Amos Thomas, post commander, and Ms daughter, Mrs. David Ran kin, at the general's quarters on the post. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charlei Wing on the Old Stage Road open house will be held In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Frank c Dlllard of Depoe Bay, who are arriving today to spend the weak-end as house guests of the Wings, The Dlllards, who will be accompanied by their daugh ter, Shlrlee, formerly resided here and have many friends. Saturday the Wings, the Dll lards and Mr. and Mrs. Rawles Moore will hold their annual New Year's Day dinner which for many years past has been a pedal event with the three fam ilies. , y Another party tonight will be that at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Barker, 2430 Hlllcrest Road. New Year's Eve Special Parties Planned at Clubs Both of the Camp White Service clubi have planned dances for this evening In cele bration of New Year's Eve. Dances will last until aftei midnight in order that the dancers mry greet the new year. Coldys Entertain Sunday Evening The Christmas holiday week end was marked with many open house parties In Medford, affairs being given both Christ mas day and Sunday. Barnwell, Jacksonville, became the bride of George Bernard Logan, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Logan of the Meadows, at a nuptial mass Thursday morning. Dec. 30, at 9:30 o'clock. The mass was celebrated by Father Fran cis Black at Sacred Heart Catho lic church in Medford. Poinsettias and lighted candles formed the setting for the wed ding party. The bride's wedding dress was a white taffeta with which she wore a finger-tip veil held with a tiara of lillies-of-the-valley. She wore a strand of pearls, gift of the groom, and carried a bouquet of white roses. She was attended by her sister. Miss Beverly Barnwell, and Miss Marie Logan, sister of the eroom. who came from Seattle for the wedding. Miss Barnwell was j owned in b. ie. Miss Logan in dusty rose and both carried hnn. I quets of carnations and wore uenaoieces oi carnations. Robert Corliss was best man for Mr. Logan. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's par ents and Mr. and Mrs. Logan rut the traditional wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Logan then left 'or a brief wedding trip to Portland after which they will make their home in the Meadows where the groom operates a farm. Mrs. Logan recently has been employed at Lamport's Wa nere. Among the guests at the ding was Miss Mary Lorena i.ogan, who came from Yakima to attend her brother's wedding. Mrs. Marie Sipes, Harvey L. Nicholas Married Recently . Mrs. Marie G. Sloes and Har- vey L. Nicholas were married Saturday, Dec. 18. at the home oi Mr. -and Mrs. Walter Corwin on the Jacksonville highway. The service was performed by the Rev. Louis Kirby of the Methodist church. The rooms of the Corwin home had been arranged with pink and white snapdragons for the wedding. Mrs. bipes' wedding costume was an aqua blue suit She wore a triple-strand pearl neck lace, a gift of the groom, and carried an heirloom lace hand kerchief which has been carried by many Medford brides. Her flowers were corsage of gar denias. Attending Mrs. Sipes was her daughter, Mrs. Everin Wlllardlng, as matron-of-honor. She wore pink and her flowers were a corsage of pink rose buds. Mr. Corwin was best man for the groom. Preceding the ceremony Miss Joyce Ann Bateman sang "1 Love You Truly" and Lewis Parker played the wedding march. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas will be at home at 609 West Second street, after the first of the year. Both have resided in Medford for many years and have a large circle of friends. Clifford Charles Iverson at a quiet ceremony at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Breazeale. 183 Gresham street, Thursday evening, Dec. 16, at 7 o'clock. The bride was attended by Miss Alma Andrews of Med ford, and her sister. Miss Char lotte Breazeale. Clayton Julian ueiKncss was best man for Cpl. Iverson. Barrett Weds Regina Dusenberry In Catholic Rite 's One of the many late Decem ber weddings in Medford was that of Miss Regina Dusen berry, CorvallU, and Pfc. Joseph E. Barrett, Medford. The wedding took place Christ mas day at Sacred Heart Cath olic church here, with Father Francis Black performing the rites at 3 o'clock in the after? noon. Miss Dusenberry is the, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Dusenberry, Portland, and Pfc. Barrett is the son of Mrs. Catherine Jay, 228 South Ivy street . For her wedding Miss Dusen berry wore blue suit with an orchid corsage. She was given in marriage by her brother, Robert Dusenberry, who -with Mrs.' Dusenberry . came from Marshfield for the wedding. Attending the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dugan of Medford. . , Following the ceremony Pfc. Barrett and his bride made a brief wedding trip and then re turned to Medford to visit with relatives this week. Today Pfc. Barrett leaves for hi army post at Camp Campbell, Ky. Mrs. Barrett, who is on the staff of the Mountain Power company in Corvallls, will return to that city for a month and then will join her husband in Kentucky. Pfc. Barrett who graduated from high school in Eugene, was employed at the American laundry in Medford before entering the army. Linnie Hanscam, Wm. L. Club To Resume Tournament Play' Members of the Medford Du plicate Bridge club will resume the weekly tournament olav Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the Medford hotel, the president, William Isaacs, announced yesterday. Play was discontinued over the holidays. The tournaments are held each Tuesday night at the hotel, and players are asked to be seated by 7:45 p. m. Retiring Queen Honored Guest At Formal Ball "Dancing in the Dark" was the theme for the formal Queen's Ball, sponsored by Daughters of Job at the Lincoln gymnasium last night. The affair honored the retiring queen. JoAnn Hum phrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Humphrey of this city. The gymnasium was decorated in keeping with a moonlight M W,U glm wiout ,haped moons and spotlights adding to the setting. Music was furnished by Ray'a Orchestra. Mrs. Lynn Paul was named first vice-president, Mrs. Orrin Brown, second vice-presi dent, Mr. Karl Ostler, treasurer, and Mr. Merton Lyster, secre tary. - - The business meeting followed dessert which was served' from a table centered with an arrange ment of daffodils and chrysan themums. Other appointment carried out the new year holiday theme. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Ostler. Mrs. Royal Clare and Mrs. Thomas Flan nagan. At bridge Mrs. Lyster won first honors and Mrs. Philip Ep stein, second. The pinochle prize went to Mrs. Fred Renting and Mrs. Howard Martin was also awarded a prize.
