Noumea, New Caledonia, Dec 22 OI.R) Christian Laigret, governor Protem of New Cale donia, today charged the Amer ican Military Command here with lack of cooperation with the French, alleging failure to control troops on leave, failure to live up to agreements regard ing use of port facilities and ille gal use of the local harbor. MaJ. Gen. Rush B. Lincoln, Ames, Iowa, commanding Amer ican forces on the island, re fused to comment on Laigret's charges saying all matters which the governor mentioned had been discussed previously with French authorities and agreements had been reached and abided by within the limits of military necessity. . Friction Reported Laigret, who shortly will be replaced by permanent Gover nor Jacques Tallec, made the charges at a press conference, saying the points of friction had been reported to French authori ties at Algiers but that no repre sentations had been made to Washington. Laigret was particularly bit ter toward alleged American failure to control negro troops, whom he declared were contin ually guilty of molesting New Caledonia women. He said an "intolerable" situ ation had reached the point where young civilians had or ganized into bands to threaten negroes who molested women. PLAYS SANTA TO LARGE NUMBER The Medford Salvation Army played Santa. Claus to a large number of people Wednesday evening when the annual Christmas- tree was held at the army headquarters on 236 . North Bartlett. Two large decorated trees, with a lighted star be tween, provided a. background for the festivities. A group of children gave a program of Christmas music and readings and gifts, candy and oranges were distributed. Thursday afternoon Mai or Nettie Brown and a group of Home League women visited Camp White and distributed 900 handkerchiefs and 000 Christ mas papers in the Station Hos pital and the camp stockade. The handkerchiefs were wrap ped by Junior high school stu dents. Major Brown states that checks and merchandise orders were given to persons In need. She expressed her thanks to those who aided the army with its Christmas cheer program and added "A Merry Christmas to one and all. Brethren Croup To Present Program 'At 506 Beatty St. A deputation team of five per sons from La Verne college, La Verne, Calif., has arrived in Med ford and will present a program Sunday, Dec. 26, at 506 Beatty St, at 8 p. m.
