Long of Medford has arrived at the infantry replacement training center at Camp Roberts, Cal., for basic training, according to a press release received here. Returns Mrs. Karl Janouch has returned to her home. 1202 East Main St., after having been a patient In a Portland hospital for the past few weeks. She is reported to be much improved in health. ' At Farragut Paul Wilcox of Jacksonville has reported to the naval training station at Far ragut, Ida., for basic training. Mrs. Wilcox and the children will remain at the family home in Jacksonville. e Representative Hera Miss Eleanor Hervl-, home service field representative for the Red Cross in Oregon, arrived this morning for a visit to the Jack son county chapter. She will remain until Saturday. Miss Hervin has replaced Miss Mar tha Godwin, who has gone over seas for Red Cross work. Sister Dies Mrs. Roy Pruitt. 19 South Orange St., received word this morning of the death of her sister, Mrs. Carl Long. Mrs. Long passed away yester day at 6 p. m. in University hospital, San Francisco, after a long illness. She will be re membered by friends here as the former Bernice Brown, hav ing spent a couple of winters in' Medford with Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt. Mis sinne, both of Camp White, were involved in a minor traffic accident early this morning on South Riverside avenue at the intersection of Highway 99, according to a report on file. Fog and ice wece listed as cause o' the collision, which damaged both cars. A 1941 Chevrolet coupe driv en by R. W. France of Phoenix and a sedan operated by Sgt. Charles E. Thome were in volved in a slight mishap on Highway 99 yesterday, a filed report stated today. Another report says that a bus, owned by Pacific Greyhound Lines and operated by Charles Ward John son, and a 1928 Chevrolet driv en by Thomas P. Engles were involved in a minor accident on Highway 99 yesterday. . Ice on the pavement caused machines operated by Mary Hammock of 212 N. Peach street and Mary Luella Sorensen of 815 W. Main street to collide yesterday. The Hammock car. a 1937 Chrysler, was travelling west on Fourth street -nd the Sorensen automobile was going north' on Orange street. Approximately 3000 pounds of usable clothing were obtained during the recent collection of discarded clothing and rags, ac cording to a reportsby Mrs. W. Alex Kuehlthau and Henry Zach- arlsen, co-chairmen of salvage work for Jackson county. The clothing is now being cleaned by the various cleaning establish ments of the county and will then be shipped to the Defense Supply corporation at Portland, from where lt will be sent to occupied countries. , The national drive was spon sored by the churches of all de nominations and locally was de clared a success by the co-chairmen.
