PROVES FIZZLE Luftwaffe's Much Vaunted Weapon No Good in Com bat With Lightnings. ; By Walter Cronklte " (United Press Correspondent) London, Dec. 2. (U.R) The German "rcsket-flrlng fighter" has turned out to be one of the Luftwaffe's biggest busts, American air officers said to day. Like the fire streaming rockets they lobbed into Flying Fortress formations, the Rocket fighters have made a brief, ter rible appearance and then plum meted to obscurity. American long range fighters quickly nullified any edge the luftwaffe might have gained in the battle over Germany by In troduction of the rocket-shooting ship. Lack Self Defense The essential value of the rocket planes depended upon ability to hang unmolested out side the range of Fortress guns and lob rockets into the forma tions. That was how they came at Fortresses at Schweinfurt In their biggest and deadliest as sault. . Guffey proposed that lottery tickets, at $2 each, be sold through "charitable, fraternal philanthropic, church and othor religious and choral organlza tions and societies and through such public agencies as the sec retary of treasury may destg nate."
