OREGON, SUNDAY, JANUARY 10, 1943 Conger Home Is Scene of Cator Wedding i In a candlelight service at the borne of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Conger of West Main street. Mist Nelle Cator became the bride of Ser geant Louie J. Izzi December 22. The rites were read by the Rev. Herald G. Gardner, rector of St. Mark's church, before an Impro vised altar, decorated with pink and white chrysanthemums and lighted with tall white tapers, j The candles were lighted by the bride's cousin. Miss Doris i1 Cator of Corvallis and Medford. 1 Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Ernest Conrad, I who also accompanied Miss f Joyce Bateman, when she sang "I Lve You Truly". 1 The bride, who was given In I marriage by her brother, Wil- liam Cator of Modesto, Callfor f nia, wore an aqua semi-princess ; gown with corsage of gardenias. Her only attendant was her I cousin. Miss Mabel Cator of Cor i vallis, who chose a dress of win I ter white with corsage of Tails I man rosebuds. J Lieut. Corwin McClean of Corvallis was Sgt. Izzi's best man. ! Mrs. Conger, aunt of the bride wore for the occasion a dress of J Uack crepe with green trim I mlng. The wedding was followed by a reception, at which Mrs. Con ger was assisted as hostess by Mrs. Arthur Hess. The bride's cake centered the table, which was decorated in white chry santhemums. About 20 relatives and Intimate friends of the couple attended the wedding and reception, after which the I bride and groom iclt lor -or- valis to spend the holidays with f her uncle, B. J. Cator and fam iiv. Thev will be at home in Vancouver, Wash., Sgt. Izzi be ing stationed at Vancouver Bar racks. Garden Club Enjoys Illustrated Lecture Mrs. Sadie Nichols presided ever the business meeting of the HKAtrrA RnrHpn club at the Girls' Community clubhouse Thursday afternoon. At that time Mrs. Jacobs was appointed chair man of the Victory Gardens for the year and she talked on the need Of home gardens, am. Woods and Mrs. Sater also dis cussed the same subject. Mrs. Gay of the Medford Rose Gar dens gave an Illustrated lecture on the pruning of shrubs and roses. Linford E. Weiss. The bride Is the daughter of Mrs. E. W. Westrup of Table Rock and the bridegroom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weiss of Red Hill, Pa. Attend ing the couple were Tech. Sgt. Charles J. Schable and Mrs. Schable. - The chaped was decorated with flowers and music was played on the chapel organ by Cpl. John Hastings and Cpl. Samuel Smith sang "Oh, Prom ise Me" and "Because". Chap lain Gebhart read the service. The bride wore a powder blue dress with beige accessories and an orchid corsage. Her attend ant chose a deep green afternoon dress with rust accessories and a gardenia corsage. Following the. marriage a wedding supper was served In the mess hall of the groom's de tachment The couple left on a short trip to San Francisco and will make their borne at Table Rock. . - Bride-Elect Honored At Buffet Sapper Mrs. C. B. Collins and Miss Betty Vilm were hostesses Fri day evening at a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Janet Mann, bride-elect ot Lieut. John G. Crawford. The affair was held at the Collins home on East Main street and buffet supper was served at 7 o'clock to 17 guests. Four tables of bridge were at play with Miss Catherine Conroy and Mrs. George Smith holding high scores. Miss Mann received individual gifts from those pres ent and the group also started her china pattern. Decorations followed a patriotic motif wltn tiny model -airplanes and red white and blue streamers. Delta Debs Hold Tea Dance Delta Debs entertained with a tea dance New Year's Day at the parish house of - St. Mark's church on North Oakdale ave nue. Miss Natalie Parker, presi dent of the organization, acted as hostess for tb affair. Patrons and patronesses were Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. V. W.- Hammond and Mrs. L. G. Lyman. P-T A Activities The P-T. A. City Council held Its January luncheon meeting Tuesday with Mrs. R. W. Glass, 429 Earhart street. Mrs. Scott Davis discussed the course in home nursing and Mrs. James Hoey reported on the Medford nursery school. Lincoln school members were hostesses. Fifteen were present. R. Prentice, 517 Newtown street. The betrothal was announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. KJine of this city. Wedding plans will be revealed later. Miss Kline is a graduate of Medford high school and also attended Behnke Walker Busi ness college in Portland. Mr. Prentice graduated from Med ford high school also and at tended Linfield college. He is now completing his advanced flying course with the U. S. army air corps at Marfa field, Tex., and will receive his wings soon. Dorothy Waldron Heads Adarel Chapter, O.E.S. Dorothy Waldron was in stalled as -worthy matron of Adarel chapter No. 3, O.E.S., at the Masonic hall in Jacksonville Thursday evening. Mrs. Wendt sang a song written espe cially for the occasion, a tribute to the newly installed worthy matron. The installing officer paused during the ceremony to give honorable mention to Mol lle Britt who began her 45th consecutive year in office. Jeanette Spencer presented a gift to the worthy matron and many other gifts were ex changed. Mattle Luman, retir ing matron was welcomed into the Past Matron's club. Visiting members were present from Reames, Nevita and Alpha chap ters. Later refreshments were served In the dining hall with the table decorations carrying out a blue scheme. Service Club Program Told The program for Service club No. 1 for the coming week has been announced by the club di rector, Mrs. Curt Hopkins and lnc' ides music, cards and danc ing. The regular Sunday afternoon musical program begins at 3 o'clock today and will be in charge of Sgt. Green. Numbers will include .string trio, saxa phone solos, ocal and accordian selections. The community sing sponsor ed by chapel No. 2 opens at 7:30 o'clock tonight and is under the direction of Corp. Richies. Ac companist is Corp. Corrigan and vocal selections by Pvt. George Edward Hanley of Chicago, was announced recently. Miss Judy, talented vocalist, has been studying voice in Chicago where she is residing. Betty Yocum Weds Mr. Knight At Parent's Home The marriage of Betty Yocum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R Yocum of 416 Laurel street, and Anthony Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knight of Newburg, was read the morning of Dec. 11 at the home of the bride's par ents. Judge J. B. Coleman pre sided during the ceremony. Present for the wedding from out-of-town were the bride groom's mother and sister, Mrs. Knight and Miss Peggy of New- berg. Mrs. Knight is a graduate of Medford high school and is a Junior at Oregon State college, where she is enrolled in home econo 'cs. They will make their home in Corvallis. Club Elects Mrs. Leo Hazel New President Mrs. Leo Hazel was elected president of the Travel Study club at a meeting held Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Thomas Roseberry on Sunset avenue. Mrs. H. L. Brown will serve as vice-president and Mrs. Earl Moore, secretary-treasurer. For entertainment Mrs. John Gribble continued a well-illustrated travelog which she started recently, this time covering Flor ida and traveling west through the southern states. Drummond was elected president of the Wo men's Service League of St. Mark's Episcopal church t a meeting held Friday afternoon at the parish house on North Oakdale avenue. She succeeds Mrs. John P. Moffat. Mrs. A. G. McMillin was elected vice presi dent, Mrs. V. J. Robinson, secre tary, and Mrs. Eugene Thorn dike, treasurer. During the business meeting a sum of money was voted towards the cost of a large win- dow in the recreation part of the church addition now being constructed. Mrs. Margaret Fab- rick made an appeal for volun teers to work as "grey ladies" at the Camp White hospitals. The meeting followed the reg ular monthly Friday luncheon which was served by Mrs. Mof fat, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Drum mond, Mrs. Bruce Bauer and Mrs. Frank Humphrey. Eight men of the crew constructing the church addition were special guests. Visit At Lageson Home Mrs. Dwight H. Findley and children are in Medford as guests of Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Lageson, 34 Glen Oak court. The Findleys recently left Med ford to reside near Hamilton Field, Cal., where Dr. Findley was with the' army medical corps. Dr. Findley is now in Baltimore, Md taking a three months course in internal medi cine. Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mitchell of Miami, Fla., were married at the Epis copal service chapel at Camp White by the Chaplain Dean Stevenson of Camp White the evening of Monday at 6 o'clock. The church was decorated with carnations and lighted pale pink candles. No. 27 of Central Point, held a public installation of new officers last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock following a potluck luncheon at noon for members and friends. Rebekah Lodge To Have Visitor Olive Rebekah lodge members are making plans for the visit of the state president, Madaline Rossner of Dayton, Ore., who will be here Jan. 18 on her of ficial visit.
