S. naval air force. He has been an in structor at a naval base in the east and was transferred to the admiral's station at Trinidad, British West Indies. Nye is graduate of Medford high school and in 1929 was appointed to Annapolis from which he was graduated. He later transferred to the air arm of the U. S. navy. The games will be dis tributed by Chaplain Porter. m m m Heme ea Furlough Sgt. Keith R. Shull is visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray C. Shull of Central Point, en route to Baton Rouge, La., from Alaska. He is with the 57th fighter squadron air corps and has been m Alaska since June. Sgt. Shull graduated from Butte Falls high school in 1940 and joined the air corps August Attending University Rich ard Sleeter, former Medford resident, is attending Washing ton university at St. Louis, Mo, according to word received here. A junior in the school of medi cine, Sleeter registered for uni versity classes for the coming term. He is the son of Mrs. R. W, Sleeter, 1715 Siskiyou Heights Complete Training Aviation Cadet Jack F. Keaveny of 1222 West Main street, and Aviation Cadet Donald F. Grigsby, route 4, box 191A, have completed an intensive pref light school course at the San Antonio Aviation ca det center in Texas and Vft this week for primary flying schools to become combat aircrew pilots. - Receives Promotion Corpor al Gene W. Tedrick will enjoy a seven-day furlough vis iting friends in Kansas City, Kas. Return From Trip County Agent Robert G. Fowler and County Horticulturist C. B. Cor- dy have returned from a two day district meeting of county agents at Klamath Falls. Crop and livestock problems of the coming year were discussed. In order to conserve gasoline and rubber, district meetings are be ing held by county agents of the state at nearby points. Sander of route 2, Oak Grove road, re ported to city police yesterday the loss of his A ration book for gasoline and his car sticker. E L Many local residents, who are offering private rooms in their homes to soldiers' wives and relatives during the Christmas holidays have inquired at the chamber of commerce concern ing necessity of registering their rooms with the Rent Control of fice. Frank Hull, secretary of the chamber of commerce, stated to day that "We have been ad vised by the area rent control of fice that it is not necessary for home owners to register a room they are now renting temporar ily for the holiday season. But if .a permanent arrangement is made on or after Jan. 1, you should register your rooms with the area rent control office." 1 of the same year. Assigned Pvt. George Law less, who was inducted recently into the U. S. army, has been as signed for training to the med ical replacement training center at Camp Robinson, Ark., accord ing to word received here from the public relations office. His eight-week training will be fol lowed by assignment for duty to some medical department or ganization. Before being induct ed into the army he resided at 832 North Central avenue. Graduate Pvt. Alfred C. Tot- ty and Pvt. Earl Reitsma, both former Medford residents, have graduated from an extensive course in aviation mechanics at Sheppard field, near Wichita i Falls, Tex., according to the of fice of public relations at the field. Both are eligible to become crew chiefs on bomber and win a rating as corporal or ser geant. Totty is the son of Mrs. F. C. Climber of Brownfield, Tex., and Reitsma is the son of K. C. Reitsma, Corvallis, Ore. Rated Lieutenant According to word from the chemical war fare service, Uited States ar my, Edgewood Arsenal, Md., Woodrow W. Shaver, of 730 West 14th street, formerly of the 78th coast artillery, became a second lieutenant at the graduation ex ercises of the chemical warfare service officer candidate school last Saturday. He was chosen from the ranks for this training by his superior officers because of excellence in military record, education and character. Closing time for Classified ads a. m. REGISTRY OPENS DEC. 1 8 FOR BOYS ON 18-YEAR LIST Registration for selective Ice of male youths who are 18 years of age and who were born between Sept 1, 1924 and Oct. 31, 1924 will be made at the city hall from Dec. 18 through Dec 24, board members stated today. The board office is open daily from 9 a. m. until 5 p. m. and on Tuesdays will remain open from 9 a. m. until 7 p. m. The neces sity of young men registering in this draft. If born during the above mentioned periods, was stressed by board members. Numerous registration places are open throughout the county. Registration of youths during the put week has totalled only seven for board number one and only six for board number two. This was partially due, it was thought, to enlistments, youths attending colleges and be ing employed in defense indus tries and as a result regljtering out of Medford. A complete tally of registration for this period will be available in January, it was explained. Sergeant Convicted Aiding Draft Dodge Los Angeles, Dec. 18 U.R) Sgt. George Comroe today await ed sentence on charges of ac cepting bribes to show draftees how to obtain deferments. A Jury convicted him after deliberating 10 minutes. Testimony revealed Comroe had taught prospective draftees to act like alcoholics and psycho neurotics. He faces a maximum sentence of" 20 years in prison and $10, 000 fine on each of four counts. T Those who have war ration book number one, which is used for the purchase of both sugar and coffee, need not call at the local war price and rationing board in the city hall for regis tration at this time, it was em phasized today by board mem bers. The ration office employes pointed out that many people stand In line for considerable time under the impression that they must register at the office when they already have In their possession war ration book num ber one. Board members also informed the public today that sugar stamp number 10 is good for; three pounds of sugar and will expire Jan. 31, 1943. The coffee stamp, number 27, may be used for the purchase of one pound of coffee until Jan. 3.
