Right-of-way City police of ficers emphasized this morning that funeral processions have right-of-way over other traffic on the streets and highways and asked motorists to refrain from interrupting the processions. Finley in Army Royce Fin ley, son of Mrs. William Swartz, 121 Genessee street, has enlisted in the 937th Engineers camou flage department, according to word received from Hollywood. Calif., where he has been em ployed for several years as head property man at the Paramount Studio. Mr. Finley, who is a graduate of Medford high school, will be stationed at Hammer Field, near Fresno, for the present, Matinee Dance Service club. No. 1, T-400, Division road, will hold a matinee dance Sunday at Camp White from 4 until 8 p. m. All girls over 18 years of age are invited and bus service will be furnished from the Outpost on West Sixth street. Girls are requested to register their names for transportation by telephon ing Mrs. C. L. Hopkins, director at 5221-extension 117-R-l. The matinee dance will be a feature each Sunday. . He has been employed during the summer months at Lockheed Airplane factory and residing in Glendale, Cal. Enlist Bill Bittle, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Bittle of 410 Maple Park drive, and Ed Ches ney, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Chesney of 748 West Fourth street, recently enlisted in the U. S. army air forces as mech anics and are at present station ed at Ft. Lewis, Wash. Both were graduated from Medford high school last spring. w m To Remodel A building per mit to remodel a house at 837 West Second street into a duplex apartment was issued Dr. Char les T. Sweeney at the city build ing inspector's office yesterday. The remodeling permit was issued at a stated cost of $300. Mrs. M. Martin was issued a per mit to repair a roof at 913 West Fourth street at a stated cost of $30. Good Actor, Poor Hubby, Says Wife Hollywood, Oct. 2. (U.PJ Screen Star Margaret Hayes re ceived a divorce today from Leif Erickson after charging that her actor-husband was a good actor but a pretty poor husband." Miss Hayes told Superior Judge Henry M. Willis she and her husband separated 28 days after they eloped to Minden, Nev., last June 12. She said Erickson had been divorced only eight days from his former wife. Actress Frances Farmer, when they eloped. Uw Mall Tribune Want ads. Visitors in Medford yesterday were two WAACS, Lieut. Emily Hathaway and Lieut. Margaret Horn, first corps' officers of the Woman s Army Auxiliary corps to be stationed in Oregon. In company with army recruiting officers they were in the uni form of their corps, the first to be seen In southern Oregon. Lleuts. Hathaway and Horn are graduates of the first officer candidate school at Fort Des Moines, la., and had Just visited Klamath Falls on a recruiting mission. Also here were Lieut. Col. B. H. Hensley, commanding of ficer of the recruiting station In Portland where the two girls will be stationed; Captain Gerald M. Sullivan, west coast air force specialist from the training cen ter at Santa Ana, Cal., and. Claire Warner Churchill, of the Oregon Writers' project with the public relations department. They were met in this city by Sergeant F. Richard Huycke, local army recruiting officer at the federal building. T Albany, N. Y.. Oct. 2. U.R Kicking your caddy should cost $2,500 at most, an appellate di vision ruling held today in re versing a judgment against the treasurer of the United States, William A. Julian. A supreme court had awarded the caddy, 19-year-old Theodore Leombruno, $5,000 for the al leged assault. The majority of the appellate division found this "grossly excessive" and ordered a new trial unless the caddy agreed to accept $2,500 within 10 days. According to the caddy the assault occurred after Julian's ball landed in a dirt road. "Tish" Comedy To Craterian Screen " Chicago, Oct. 2 (U.R) Work men digging a right-of-way for a railroad spur to a new war plant found a wide gold band wed ding ring and returned It to Mrs. Emma Henk, 69, who lost it 47 years ago while working on her husband's farm. Charlie Hei, 73, her husband, said he plowed the land year after year searching for the ring without success.
