R. Morgan of Ashland and Charles Stanley Jandreau, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Jand reau, also pf Ashland at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Trites of Ashland last Sunday morning. The Rev. Bertrand F. Peterson, pastor of the Nazarene church read the ring service. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warren. Following the reception the couple left immediately for Pasadena, Cal., where they will enter Nazarene college in that city. The bride graduated from Ashland high school where she was selected for the D. A. R. Good Citizenship Pilgrimage to Washington, D. C. She was re porter on the Ashland Daily Tid ings since her graduation. Mr. Jandreau also graduated from Ashland high school where he was outstanding in athletics. Attending the wedding from this city was Lillian Newton. Rebekah Lodge Holds Session Ina Huson presided at the meeting of Olive Rebekah lodge Monday evening at the I.O.O.F. hr" with Mrs. Wilma Rogus and her mother, Mrs. Irena Downs from St. Helen's Rebekah lodge as guests. Miss Elaine Fairchild. who is leaving Cor her home at Sparks, Nev., was also present. A letter from Katherine Daniels ""'Shea, who is now living in Eremerton, Wash., was read. She is a former member of the local lodge. Mrs. Ethel Pease and commit tee presented the following patri otic program: History of songs, "America," Florence Klatt; "Flag of Peace," Lottie Cave; "Gem of the Ocean," Dolly Love; "Star Spangled Banner," Edna Hilderbrand; "Love of Country," Minnie Bryant; "Our Flag," Mayme Seiler; "God Bless Amer ica," Julia Gregory; "The Amer ican Way," Ella Rogers; "Battle Hymn of Republic, Maud Dau gherty. National Defense, Eliza beth Bowerman; Freedom, Mar tha Gaul; on Social Responsibili ties, Carrie Milnes; Patriotic Quotations, Bertha Nice Wood and Viola Aldredge. The program closed with all inging patriotic songs. In charge of the September social evening were Ina Huson, Ella Gould Ella Rogers, Ethel Pease and Maud Daugherty. Entertainment was arranged by Lona Bergman Georgia Hess and Mable Conger. Fidelity Circle Enjoys Afternoon Fidelity Circle of the First .Methodist church met in the church parlors Tuesday after noon with Mrs. Donna Taylor presiding. She was elected as vice president filling the va cancy left by the resignation of Mrs. Anna McCollum. Mrs. E. W. Brainerd read an article from a Portland paper announcing the thirtieth anni versary of the Manley Center in Portland to be celebrated Sept. 15. Mrs. Taylor related the story of a Chinese missionary's efforts to convert a Chinese tailor and another concerning a native Congo missionary who refused to retire after being declared too old to carry on his work at outposts. The social hour was in charge of the hostesses, Mrs. Anna Rose borough, Mrs. Robert Rae, Mrs. Ann Brandon and Mrs. Taylor. Service Club Dance Success More than 200 enlisted per sonnel attended the initial Serv ice Club dance at the newly ODencd Camp White, Oregon, Service Club, Number 1, Thurs day evening. Miss Rena Semen za, senior director of the club, announced yesterday. With Mcdford USO girls act- lne as partners, the men enjoyed old-time, jitterbug and popular dancing. The dance was the first of a series which is expected to pack the Camp Service clubs to capacity as they are scneauiea Assisting Miss Semenza were Mrs. C. L. Hopkins. Mrs. Bernice Rupp, Miss Ethel Rush and Miss Joyce Holt of the Service Club personnel. Planned by the club is a series cf Sunday afternoon matinee dancing from 2:30 to 5:30 p. m. ELLSWORTH President of tht Northern California Minion Monday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p. m. 331 West 2nd St. All welcome Daisy Bain, Robert Olson Wed At Bride's Home Daisy Blanche Bain of 626 McAndrew's road and Robert Klaus Olson of Clackamas, were quietly married at the home of the bride, August 28, in an after noon ceremony. Rev. R. W. Coleman, pastor of the First Christian church, officiated. For the wedding the bride wore a black lace dress with a corsage of roses and bovardia. Attending the wedding were the bride's mother, Mrs. Augusta Bain, Ruth Walden and Esther Walden. The couple left for a short wedding trip and will make their home in Portland where Mr. Olson is employed by the Oregon Shipbuilding corpora tion. Mrs. Olson has been em ployed by the Portland school system for the past five and a half years. Wedding Held At Yearnsley Home Bernice Edilman of Westpoint, Oregon, and Sergeant Vernon King of Camp White, were mar ried Saturday evening at the home of Adelaine Yearnsley, 641 Holly street. They were attend ed by Adelaine Yearnsley and Harley Denney. The bride wore a blue suit with a corsage of pink and white rosebuds. Attending the wedding were James D. Porter, Samuel C. Routh, B. B. Robedeaux, Adolph M. Voelker, Lemerel D. Turley, Eddie Yodar and Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Woodvine Mrs. King is a registered nurse and a graduate of St. Marys at Astoria. Sergeant King is em ployed at Camp White. A. A. U. W. To Resume Meetings Medford Branch of A.A.U.W. will resume fall activities at the home of Mrs. Justin Smith, 21 Geneva street, Saturday, Sept. 19, with tea following the after noon program. The meeting opens at 1:30 p. m. and the speaker will be announced later An invitation is issued to any former member of another A.A.U.W. branch and to those interested or eligible to the or ganization. Especially invited are eligible officers' wives and wives of non-commissioned and enlisted personnel. S. marine air corps left yester day afternoon by United Main liner for Jacksonville, Fla., where he will be stationed, af ter spending a two weeks' fur lough in this city with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rina barger. His sister. Miss Frankie Rinabarger of Grants Pass ac companied him to Portland. She plans to spend a week there with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. V. V. Snow. Miss Carolyn Wolcott re turned to her home in Marsh field yesterday after spending the past two weeks at the Rina barger home. Former Resident Weds At Vancouver Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wheaton of Kinzua, former Medford resi dents, announce the marriage of their daughter, Nona, to Wayne nun oi sutnemn. Ore., Sept. 8 at Vancouver, Wash. They will reside in Portland where Mr, Hull is employed in the ship- yaras. The bride has many friends in this city where she attended school and graduated from high school in Kansas. She later re turned to Medford and prior to her marriage was employed at the Jackson hotel and at Camp White. Club To Attend Patriotic Exercises Business and Professional Woman's club will meet at 7:30 pT m. rather than the usual time, S p. m. Thursday at the Girls Community clubhouse, it was announced yesterday. The mem bers will adjourn early in order that they may attend Constitu tion Day exercises at the county courthouse auditorium, at which time Col. Warren Hood will be guest speaker. Transportation will be furnished to the meeting. Plans Made For Annual Banquet Plans for the annual Crater Lake Guild banquet to be held in October at the First Presbyter ian church were made recently at a meeting held at the home of Mrs. Iva Murray, 11th street. At that time committees for the event were appointed by the president, Mrs. Byron Murdock. Further arrangements will be made Sept. 21 at the honr.. of Emma Jane Brewer. Visitors Return To Eugene Mr. and Mrs. Robert Helvey, former Medford residents, re turned to their home last week after spending the summer months in this city. (U.R) United States troops today paraded on French soil with the cheers of the French people ring ing in their ears for the first time since the A. E. F. landed in France in World war 1. It was disclosed that the American troops were stationed somewhere in fighting French Africa to help defend common interests of the United Nations. The population of the colony, both French and native, was heartened by the sight of the well-equipped, sturdy American troops, who seemed eager to join their French comrades. Foster suffered a severe brain injury in the scuffle and was re ported yesterday as being in a semi-conscious condition in an Ashland hospital.
