Dolph thipps has returned to her home at Eagle Point after spend ing the past three weeks in Portland where she underwent an operation at St. Vincent's hospital. She Is recovering sat isfactorily. Car Struck Harold Charles of 432 North Holly street re ported to city police yesterday that an unidentified automobile struck his car sometime early Sunday morning while it was parked at the above address. The fenders were badly dam aged, he reported. To Leave Lieut, and Mrs. C. ftN. Stlger and their small son plan to leave here tomorrow by plane for Seattle after spending 10 days visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Banning, 304 South Peach street. Lieutenant Stiger is sta tioned at Fort Lawton, Seattle. The Stiger's are former Medford residents. Completes Training Donald Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Wright of Perrydale has recently completed his training at the Belville, Rhode Island motor boat torpedo school and is now working as a petty of ficer, third class in the pay master office of the Brooklyn navy yards prior to his assign ment. Forfeit Bail Lyman Willard Rubedaux. Alvln McGiven and Stephen Wright each forfeited $10 bail in the city police court today on a charge of being drunk in a public place. Erwin G. Blaylock, James H. Mansell and Arthur C. Nolan each for feited $10 bail Saturday on a similar charge. G. E. Brazill paid a $10 fine on the same charge. Tire Impaction Tire Inspec tors working under the Medford rationing board are asked to attend a meeting to be held Tuesday at 7:30 p. m. in the council chamber of the city hall. Hobart Price, executive secre tary of the county rationing board, urged today that all members be in attendance as latest rulings of the national rationing authorities will be discussed, To Show Pictures Dr. and Mrs. E. Mr. Eberhart is head of United Press in Seattle. Mrs. Philip Gilstrap and son Philip, of Salem, Ore., arrived with the party and are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. HI D. Powell. Returns Home A. J. Ander fc?on has returned to his home at '822 East Ninth street after his first trip to his home town, Litchfield, Minn., in 40 years. He visited his old schoolmates, old schoolhouse and reports that the town has doubled in popu lation. The editor of the city newspaper 40 years ago is still publishing the same paper and he also visited the photography shop where he served his ap prenticeship. In Minneapolis Anderson was a guest of his brother, A. E. Anderson, and en route west stopped at Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Los An geles and San Francisco. Maspellell of Eagle Point were operators of vehicles which collided at the Intersec tion of Main street and River side avenue Sunday at 12:15 a. m., according to a report on file. Stellmacker was driving a passenger car and Maspellell a truck. Marvin L. Stevens of Route 2, and Frank Fanger of Star Route, box 57, both operat ing passenger cars, collided at West Main street and Columbus avenue intersection Sunday at 8 p. m., a report on file stated. Attorney to Collect Walbert Insurance Is Authorized by Court A petition on order author izing retention of an attorney for the collection of two Insur ance policies for $1000 each, as sets of the estate of C. E. Wal bert and vife, local couple who disappeared in November 1940, while on an airplane trip to Portland, has been filed In cir cuit court by O. B. Waddell, ad ministratrix of the estate. The two insurance policies Is sued by the Oregon Mutual, and the Maccabees in 1934, have been denied payment by the In surance concerns, the petition sets forth. Mrs. Walbert Is named as beneficiary of both. The Walberts left here in Cub plane, with bad weather prevailing. No trace has ever been found of them or the plane. Many reports were received from residents of the Prospect and Umpqua Divide areas, of hearing a plane, presumed 4o be the Walberts. Extensive aerial searches were made, and a re ward for finding of the plane and the Walberts was offered by the Medford Flying club of which they were members. Basic pay rate for the hospital mess attendants, who will be ap pointed for indefinite war serv ice, will be $110 a month. At tendants will come under civil service regulations as to hours and leave. SISTER'S DEATH Yreka. Calif., Aug. 10 W A 12-year-old boy, Vincent Mo Neal, was held In the Juvenile detention home today after a coroner's Jury ruled that he struck his 3-year-old half-sister ' with homicidal intent' and then looked on while she drowned In the Salmon river. The victim was Madeline An nabelle Orcutt. Coroner Jess Treadway said Vincent and his four half-sisters, all under 7 years of age, were wading in the river near their home at Somes bar. In the mountain wilderness 80 miles west of Yreka, when the drown ing occurred. All of the children lived with Vincent's mother and step father, Mr. and Mrs. Elman Or cutt.
