Saturday night's tilt will start at 9 o'clock sharp, that Sunday immediately after 2:30 p. m ceremonies In which Major Gen eral Charles H. Gerhardt, com mander of the 91st Infantry Di vision at Camp White, will pre sent to Pvt. Dickinson a gift from the Medford Athletic asso ciation. Jim Snyder, erstwhile Dorrls lefthander now toiling for the Craters, will pitch against his former teammates In the noctur nal contest Saturday, Manager Dutch Lieber announced, with Dickinson, of course, going to the Crater mound in the Sunday struggle, shooting for his sixth Oregon-California league victory against one setback. Carlstrora Hurls It was expected that Manager Red Talbot of the Lumberjacks would counter with the veteran curve-ball artist, Clyde Carl strom, in the Saturday night fracas, and come back with Big Bill Cecil, a right hander with a whistling hard one, for the "Joe Dickinson Day" party on the Sabbath. The Craters, boasting a two game bulge over the Klamath Falls Pelicans in the circuit flag chase, will be at full strength for the Dorris invasion. In bat ting order, here is the way the locals will line up: Jack Swar- cyk, shortstop; Norm Worthley, catcher; Al Wrsy, centerfield; Manager Lieber, first base; Paul Hoffard, right field; John Gitzen second base; Vic Watte, left field; Don Fawcett, third base and the pitcher. The Lumberjacks are expect ed to take the field with the hard-hitting Bart Goldbar back of the plate, Jack Duracha on first, Marshall on second, Crlspi on short. Earl Brooks on third, Oakes In left, Crenshaw in cen ter and Snavely in right. Gift Bought "Joe Dickinson Day" Sunday will be a gala affair, with the Medford Athletic association and fans showing their appreci ation of what the big soldier righthander has done. The asso ciation, team sponsor, has pur chased Private Joe a handsome gift, which will be presented to him by Major General Gerhardt in a ceremony at home plate im mediately after the stars and Stripes are raised to the strains of the national anthem. The general will be Intorduced by a civic official. Fans desiring to give Joe a personal gift are asked to place it in the box, which will be located at the entrance to the grandstand, and those wishing to contribute cash may also place the money In the box. The "purse" and gifts from fans will be given to Joe In the seventh Inning. Sammy likes to fight from a half crouch, crowd his way in close and then boff his opponent about the mid-section at short range the shorter the better. Robinson, on the other hand, Is a long, lean stringbean who wants to stand off a way and pitch his high hard ones. In all his fights, he has shown little relish for the crowding kind of rival and Sammy Is one of the crowjng-est. Sammy a lightweight crown won't be on the line in this one it Is "stashed" away until he meets Allie Stolx again. Yet. Promoter Mike Jacobs figures the fight presents enough of a nose-smashing party so that some 15.000 of the faithful, rep resenting a gate of over $30,000 will be sitting In on the shindig. Un less otherwise announced the club will shoot every Sunday through August and skeet as well as 16-yard targets will be thrown In order to facilitate the shooting of both kinds of tar gets, skeet targets will be thrown promptly at 10:30, re lieving the trap boys for the 16 yard targets as soon as the skeet has been completed. Skeet shoot ers are urged to come as early as possible. A special invitation Is extend ed to Camp White officers and men to visit the club as contest ants or spectators. The gun club has ammunition available on the grounds and skeet and trap guns will be available for use with out charge to men In the serv ice. Br Judson Bailer (Associated Press Sports Writer) Fans probably don't pay a great deal of attention to the baseball standings these days because the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers are mak ing runaways of the major league pennant races. Some newspapers in the spirit of good clean fun and to pro mote interest in the standings of the clubs even have turned them upside down, putting the two Philadelphia clubs on top, or nave separated the Yanks and Dodgers from the rest of their leagues. Maybe it will be a surDrise. therefore, to point out that the Uodgers have won 70 games and lost only 29 for a percentage of .U( and stand a good chance of becoming the first team in 33 years in the National league to finish above the ,700 percentage level. Cubs Crushed The Dodgers added another scalp last night with a 9-2 con quest of the Chicago Cubs, who were crushed with a six-run rally in tne linn inning. This increased Brooklyn's lead to 8VS games over the idle St. Louis Cardinals. The Yankees also were idle, but their Ameri can league margin was increased to 12 ',4 games as the Boston Red Sox dropped a 4-3 decision to the Cleveland Indians. The Washington Senators cap tured their third straight from the St. Louis Browns 11-8 and cooled off the Browns' second place hopes effectively. Pinky Higgins drove In six runs as Detroit downed the Philadelphia Athletics 11-9 In the first game of a doubleheader but the A's slugged their way to a 7-6 triumph in the nightcap. The second-place Solons, who defeated Portland, 9 to 4, last night for their only win of a three-game series, play host to the Seals who traveled from Los Angeles yesterday. Blix Donnelly pitched the Solon victory, giving up 10 hits and fanning six batters to tie Seattle's Dick Barrett for the league-leading figure of 124 strikeouts. Sacramento touched Ad Lls ka and Bob Fitzke for 14 safe ties. Eddie Lake homered and tripled for two Solon scores while Everette Thompson and Deb Garms each collected three hits in five tries. Hillsboro Athletic Coach Resigns Post Hillsboro, July 31 (IP) Reese Hathhorn, Hillsboro high school athletic coach for several years, announced his resignation today to enter railroad work.
