OREGON, MONDAY, JUNE 29, 1942. Carrying all the traditional thrills of Circus day, the Russell Bros. 3-ring circus, one of Amer ica's largest, moved into Med ford from Mount Shasta at the crack of dawn this morning and with no perplexing delays erected an entertainment city of gleaming white canvas near the Jackson school for two performances today at 2 and 8 p. m. The scores of men, women and children who assembled on the lot this morning to watch the ever-alluring spectacle of erecting the tented city, wit nessed a free show which to many Is as interesting as the actual circus performance. The big top, one of the larg est spreads of canvas on the road, soon nosed into the air and by noon everything was in readiness for the afternoon per formance. Doors to the me nagerie will be opened again at 7 o'clock tonight giving Med ford circus fans an entire hour to see all the animals before the start of the big show. Beyond the ordinary wastage of forest fires, we cannot afford the diversion of man-hours required to put them out. This year no patriotic Amer ican may serve the enemy as an incendiary bomb. Furthermore, those of us lucky enough to ride mountain trail or whip trout filled streams Ibis year owe out less fortunate countrymen a pledge of extra precaution. No less is due those now war-bound to lathe or desk or bugle. The oM rules are unchanged. Extinguish your camp-fire every spark. With every kind of "smoke" do likewise. Break every used match. But, shucks, you know them all. Just add to them this personal resolve : "So sorry, Mr. Hirohito, but I will Mot be an incendiary bomb."
