Carrying all the traditional
thrills of Circus day, the Russell
Bros. 3-ring circus, one of Amer
ica's largest, moved into Med
ford from Mount Shasta at the
crack of dawn this morning
and with no perplexing delays
erected an entertainment city
of gleaming white canvas near
the Jackson school for two
performances today at 2 and
8 p. m.
The scores of men, women
and children who assembled on
the lot this morning to watch
the ever-alluring spectacle of
erecting the tented city, wit
nessed a free show which to
many Is as interesting as the
actual circus performance.
The big top, one of the larg
est spreads of canvas on the
road, soon nosed into the air
and by noon everything was in
readiness for the afternoon per
formance. Doors to the me
nagerie will be opened again
at 7 o'clock tonight giving Med
ford circus fans an entire hour
to see all the animals before
the start of the big show.

every spark. With every kind
of "smoke" do likewise. Break
every used match. But, shucks,
you know them all. Just add to

this afternoon at John White's
leaping greyhounds, Maree and
her canine pals, the only troupe
of trained Great Danes on the
road, Alvtn Welsh's performing
elephants, and Pauline Webb's
dancing horses and military
ponies.
Additional thrills are provid
ed by the Aerial Alexandres, a
comical contingent of clowns,
and the Orton, Acevado, Free
hand, De Wayne, Clarke, Olvera,
and Bell-Thazer troupes of Jug
glers, gymnasts, tumblers and
wirewaikers.

It was close to 7:30 p. m.
when Sacramento and Seattle
finished five hours and 22 min
utes (playing time) of Coast
League baseball. The shadows
were long, the fans hungry, the
players staggering.
But to a pair of righthanded
pitchers and their employers,
the extended effort seemed em
inently worthwhile. For Clar
ence Beers his two hours and 20
minutes work meant a 9-3 Sac
ramento victory over Seattle.
For Blix Donnelly, his three
hours and two minutes' toil was
rewarded with a 3 to 1 decision
over the same club.
