'Most of this time has been spent in the mountains," the writer declared, "and I don't mean In the foot hills either." One year was spent as a forest service guard In Eastern Ore gon. Vonstein has written a serial story with the setting around Seven Lake Basin and Devil's Peak southeast of Diamond Lake, which will be published soon In "Young People's Stand ard," Nazarene publication. He has written numerous arti cles and a little poetry for re ligious publications. 'Oh, I am Just that way," thla author explained when asked how he happened to start writ ing- I can write best in the early morning, and I don't have any trouble keeping at it. Ha has reached that stage in his career, envied by every struggling writer, when editors send him letters Instead of rejection slips, and he stresses the old advice that the only way to write la to keep writing. He has rea sons to believe that Harper's Magazine may accept a short story, and indicated hla eager ness to reach that goal, "There la always something Just ahead," he commented. Vonstein takes great delight in his Butt creek band of 70 sheep, and sees no reason for using a pen name.
