SOCIETY and CLUB NEWS of the WEEK BY B2TTY SHOEMAKER Lady Chapel Is Scent of Holt Boulet Wedding Tha Lady Chapel of St. Luke' Episcopal church in Evanston, 111, was the scene or the wed ding May 20 of Mist Barbara Richmond Holt, daughter of Dr. nd Mr. William WiUon Pratt Holt of this city and Josef Tiolin Boulet of Evantton, son of the late Rev. Joseph Eugene Boulet and Mrs. Boulet of Anderson Texas. The service was read by (ha Rev. Frederick L. Barry. D.D. rector of St. Luke's. The bride was given In marriage by her father, Dr. Holt who Journeyed east for his daughter s wedding. 8 ha wore two-piece dress of rust color with beige trimming, small matching hat, beige ac cessories and a corsage of Talis man roses. Attending the bride was Miss Marion Cameron of Eva niton who wore a plaid Jacket suit, pale green hat and corsage of gardenias. Best man was Ovide Boulet of Houston, Tex., a brother of the bride groom. Following the ceremony a breakfast was held for members of the wedding party and close friends. Mrs. Boulet attended Medford schools. Southern Oregon Col lege of Education and received her bachelor's degree in music at University of Oregon. For the past year she has been studying at Northwestern university at Evantton where she will receive her master's degree in June. Mr. Boulet, who is native of Texas, attended Northwestern university and is now in the research laboratories of General Motor, in Chicago. Mr. and Airs. Boulet for the present will re side In Evanston. Mariner s Claw Holds Chinese Party At Church Mariner's class of the First Christian church enjoyed a chop suey dinner and Chinese party Wednesday evening with 42 friends and members present. Chinese lanterns were hung throughout church recreational hall and tiny lanterns and fans were on the tables. Chinese vases, silk embroidered pictures, Chinese newspapers, phonograph records of Chinese music, and many other priceless treasures were loaned for the occasion by local friends. Guests in Chinese garb sat on cushions on the floor and "gallantly struggled" to eat with chop sticks. Members of the Portslde crew, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McQulgg. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Burnham, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Savage, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Prescott and Mrs. H. T. Perdue were honored guests by virtu of winning a recent class contest. "Skipper" Mabel Smith presid ed at a short business session. Plans were laid for extensive ef forts to draw within fellowship of the class new couples in town connected with Camp White. A new course of study for the sum mer was adopted on Christian family-life and its applications to young married couples. On Tuesday evening, Melba Prescott will be hostess to the women for another sewing project. Herb Burnham will be host for a stag on the same evening. A gift was presented to Rev. and Mrs. R. W. Coleman, chaplain and teacher of the class, honoring them on their wedding anniversary. Games closed the evening. Present besides the "honored crew" were: Rev. and Mrs. R. W. Coleman. Br Mrs. Jacksonville, May 30 (Spl.) the ministry, the Rev. E. N. retire from active service about the Mallery have served churches in five states and the pastor is closing his career in one oi Born at Cedar Falls, la., Nov. 25. 1861, the Rev. Mallery was converted at' Correctionvllle, la., in 1880 and upon entering the ministry was licensed to preach at Fort Dodge, la.. In 1881. Ha was married to Miss Bessie Covin of Lamoille, 111., in 1804, uniting with the Colo rado conference of the Methodist church and Rev. Mallery was or dained by Bishop C. C. McCabe at Fort Collins. They resided in Colorado for 25 years, serving various churches in Colorado and New Mexico, also in Flor ida and being active in evangel. istic work. Later they moved to California for 10 years where the Rev. Mallery preached In Glendala, Balboa and Indlo. Deciding to retire from active service they took small ranch near Phoenix but shortly were asked to serve the Phoenix Pres byterian church for 16 months and later retired a secona lime. Again the Rev. Mallery was called to active service and sup plied the pulpit of the Jackson ville Presbyterian church where he has served for the past live years. The Rev. Lawrence Mitchel- more, of Merrill, Ore., will ar rive about June 1 to take over the pulpits of the Jacksonville and Phoenix churches. Besides serving the church the Rev. Mallery has been active in school and civic affairs. He was instrumental in rcdecorat in and landscaping the church and also secured two memorial markers in tribute to Jackson ville pioneer ministers. He re cently designed, made and pre sented Jacksonville school with a school flug. It is with regret that Jackson ville residents see Rev. and Mrs. Mallery leave. They have been sterling Influence on all witn whom they have come in con tact. This earnest cooperation In civic and school matters will be long remembered and has won for them a place In the hearts of everyone. For the present the Mallerys ; plan to reside at the home of their daughter In Memoro. Program "Makers of the Flag," a patri. otic drill, was featured at the meeting of Nevlta chapter. No. 03, O.E.S.. at Central Point Tues day evening. Mrs. Baulah Faber presented "Makers of the Flag" by Franklin K. Lane, after which instrumental and vocal numbers were given by the Brewer trio. The officers of the temple formed a flag In the east while a quartet sang the national an them. Mrs. Edith Scott and Hensley Holt preceded the drill as color bearers. Members of the quartet are Marjorie Pena Delia Tex. Ed Vincent and Mer- ritt Swing. -The social committee, Mrs. Sam Koehler, Mrs. Faber, Mrs. Guy Tex and Mrs. Edwin An ctren decorated the tables In a patriotic motif. The meeting was the final session of the chapter before Grand Lodge in Portland, June 0, 10 and 11. Annual Tea Enjoyed At Braley Home A.A.U.W. members entertain ed at the home of Mr. C. Rease Braley Wednesday afternoon honoring girls of the senior class at Medford high school and pros pective members of the Medford branch. About 100 attended the affair from 4 until 5:30 p. m. Incidental music numbers were presented during the tea hours. The guests were received by Miss Alice Spurgin, senior girl counsellor at the high school, Mrs. Robert Shepherd. A.A.U.W. president and Mrs. Braley. The music was arranged by Mrs. Darrell Huson and includ ed piano selections by Mrs. Mabel Sims, string quartet, Charlotte Wing, Mary Bruce Crane, Alice Brill and Verlyn Thomas; violin solo, "Cane Break" by Alice BriU. State President Honored By Local Pro America Mrs. L. L. Riggs of Portland, state president of Pro America was honored Monday evening at the home of Mrs. C. M. Hurd on West Main street when local Pro America members and Re publican women called at the Hurd home. Mrs Riggs discussed the place the Republican party has in the national crisis and national unity. Following the wedding the couple left for coast point and upon their return to Medford will take up residence on Mistle toe street. Mrs. Monteith is a graduate of Medford high school and Leonard Beauty college and is employed at the C r a t e r i a n Beauty shop. Mr. Monteith graduated from Medford high school, attended Southern Ore gon College of Education and is employed at the Medford branch of the United States National bank. The din ner meeting brought association activities to a close until the fall month. Serving during the coming year will be Mrs. Flora Childers, president; Mrs. Ora Reading, vice president; Mrs. Eunice bmitn, secretary, and Mr. Lulu Mol ten, treasurer. Betrothal Of Marietta DePrez Told at Sorority Announcement was made of the betrothal of Miss Marietta DePrez, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. DePrez of 236 North Ivy street to William Morgan of Albany on the Oregon State college campus May 23. News of the engagement was told at the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house of which Miss DePrez Is a member. No date has been set for the wedding. Mr. Morgan graduated from Oregon State college in the school of forestry yesterday. He is a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Picnic May Be Held At Church In case of unfavorable weather the annual picnic of the Women's association of the First Presbyterian church will be held at the church rather than the home of Mrs. John Perl on Coleman Creek road. Store Reames Chapter Plans Purchase Of War Bond Reames chapter, N. 86, O E. S., voted to purchase a war bond in the Back Bob Emmens With a War Bond campaign which ccmei to a close tomorrow. Tha meeting was conducted by the worthy matron, Ruth Freed at tha Masonic temple Thursday evening. Escorted to the east and Intro duced were Beulah Faber oi Central Point, member of tha traveling flag committee and chairman of the evening' pro gram, and Bertha Bonney, tha worthy matron of Nevita chap- , ter. No. 93. At the close of tha meeting the officers formed a flag with crepe paper, during which tha American flag was escorted and presented to the east while Elsie Carlton Strang sang "America." Beulah Faber gave a tribute to the flag entitled "Makers of the Flag" as written by Franklin H. Lane, secretary of Interior under Preident Woodrow Wilson. Emma Jane, John and Robert Brewer presented several piano, voice and trombone selections. Mrs. Delia Denny described her trip through the International Temple in Washington, D. C. Later refreshments were served in the dining room which was decorated in a patriotic mo tif, the table forming a "Victory V." Alexander, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Alex ander of Klamath Falls. No Wed ding date has been set. Miss Pearson is completing her Junior year at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles and Mr. Alexander is an air cadet In training at Randolph Field, Texas. r- Junior Guild Holds Dance Junior Guild members of St Mark's Episcopal church spon-. sored an informal dancing party for members of the U. S. armed forces stationed in Medford Fri day evening at the parish hall on North Oakdale avenue. Danc ing, visiting and community singing were enjoyed.
