Closing time for Classified Ads m Too lat to Classify 13 JO WELFARE COSTS February and March Report Given by Commission General Assistance Drops Jackson county's public wel fare costs Increased slightly In February and March over the corresponding periods In 1941, it was revealed in statistical re ports released by the Jackson County Public Welfare commis sion, which held its monthly meeting April 23. Total cost of general, old age and blind assistance and aid to dependent children was $27,- 449.78 for February and $28, 968.40 for March, as compared to $26,716.68 for February .f last year and $27,723.38 for Marih of 1941, the reports showed. General assistance for Febru ary decreased from $4,734.84 ik 1941 to $3,737.39, but old age assistance Increased from $14, 376 to $16,863 and blind assist ance increased from $263 to $374. Aid to dependent Chi) dren also showed a slight In crease, from $2,566 to $2,698. Cost of general assistance in March showed a decline from 1941's $5,187.79 to $4,340.20, but cost of old age assistance, with an Increase from 741 to 824 cases, leaped from $14,496 last year to $17,110. Increases were also noted in aid to dependent children, from $2,374 to $2,804, and in blind assistance, from $280 to $374. Elmer Whipple, Saturday evening at Roxy Ann Grange hall. The hall waa again the acen of activity Sunday when the men put in a pipe line and In stalled a hot water tank for city water.
