U. S. army engineer that they
probably won't be asked to va
cate their farm and ranches
until July 1 Instead of June 1,
it was learned yesterday.
Although the army hasn't,
and never has, set any specific
data by which the land-owners
must be off their property to
make way for further construc
tion of Camp White, the letters
made It clear that July 1 was
the estimated vacating date.
This extension of time, farmers
pointed out, would enable them
to harvest their first crops of
alfalfa and hay.
It wa also learned that most
all of the land owners have
been advised of the official ap
proval and setting of the canton
ment boundary lines, thus clear
ing up a certain amount of be
wilderment In the mind of a
number of farmer and ranch
er, who hadn't previously
known whether they would be
requested to vacate their prop
erty. A number of land owner in
the Beagle area, dissatisfied
with appraisal price offered
them for option on their land,
have decided to fight condem
nation suit to be filed by the
U. S. attorney' office. A yet
no condemnation proceedings
have been instituted in this

Singer, who became gallery
doorkeeper in 1909, had been ill
for some time with a throat ail
ment. When the senate and the
tate legislature were in session
at the same time Singer custo
marily obtained leave to return
to Oregon.
