J. Fle'd of Crater Lake avenue. The ceremony was read by the Rev. John W. Pressly, Jr., in the presence of Immediate friends of the couple. For her wedding outfit the bride chose a pastel wool suit with gray fur trim and a corsage of orchids She was attended by Mrs. Wil liam Barnum, the former Amy rillort. who wore a tailored outfit and corsage of Talisman rosebuds. Dr. William Barnum was best man. A breakfast at the country club followed and that evening Or. and Mrs Barnum enter tained for the couple at their hum, in Portland. Mr. Field is a graduate of Medford high school and at- tended Sacramento Junior col lege and Oregon State college He Is employed with the George Lawrence Leather company in Portland where the couple will make their home. Mrs. Field raduated from Medford high school and attended San Mateo Junior college and the College of Pacific where she majored in music Both are well-known In southern Oregon music circles Following a week's trip to coast points they planned to be at home In Portland tomorrow. Preceding her departure for Vancouver last week a, group of 'rlrndi gathered at the Moore home and honored her with a ' kitchen hower. - Teacher Hold Luncheon-Shower For Bride-Elect Miss Leah Etta Evans was guest of honor at a luncheon and miscellaneous shower re cently given by teachers of the Central Point grade school. Attending were the following faculty members, Misses Helen Wilson, Ruth Ottoman, Ruth Foster, Mabel Dodson and Mrs. Mae B. Richardson. Miss Evans, whose engage ment to Norman M. Kerr, Jr., was recently announced re ceived many gifts. She la the daughter of Mrs. Leon Evans of Medford and has taught the sixth, grade at Central Point school for the past three years She has supervised musical work In the school and is this year directing the annual school operetta. Mr. Kerr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman M. Kerr of Ashland, Is employed by the Standard OH company In this city. Both at tended the Southern Oregon College of Education. Visitors Here From Honolulu Mr. and Mrs. Dan Watson of Honolulu, T. H., enjoyed a brief stay in this city during the past week visiting Mr. Watson's brothers and slstert-ln law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Watson and Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Watson and Dan Watson's son. Bob Watson. The visitors were enroute to Seattle, Wash., for a short stay and plan to continue to Olym pia where they will be guests of Mr. Watson's mother, Mrs. J. F. Watson and his brother-in-law and slater, Capt. and Mrs. H. B. Bentley. Mr. WaUon is a former Medford resident. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wolcott in Longvlew, Wash. She is the former Margery Jean Wolcott. Mr. Taylor is the son of Mrs. Mary E. Guttafion of this city and well-known here. He la in service with the Infantry at Fort Lewis, Wash. Mrs. Taylor plans to reside in Longvlew tor the duration. Past Noble Grand Club Celebrates 18th Anniversary An anniversary meeting of Past Noble Grand club of Olive Rebekah lodge was held Thurs day evening at the Girls' Com munity clubhouse. After the reg ular business session a program was presented by the commit tee, Miss Caroline Leaders, Mrs. Irene Shirley, and Mrs. Minnie Bryant. The club waa organized March 1924 and the first presi dent was Mrs. Pearl Turner Each past president was given a corsage of spring flowers and later refreshments were served and a large anniversary cake with 18 candles enjoyed. Past presidents honored In cluded Mesdames Telitha Pickel. Katherine Daniels, Elsie Mil lard, Carrie McDannnl, Lonn Bergman, Ethyl Weed. Edith Prescott, Carrie Rlckert. The ceremony was read Tuesday at the First Christian church In Tacoma, Wn by the Rev. Carl Johnson In the presence of the family and immediate friends. The bride wore a dusty pink crepe dress with tan accessories and a corsage of gardenias and sweet peas. She was attended by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Carl Walden, of Tacoma as matron of. honor. Mrs. Walden wore a black suit with white accessor ies. Carl Walden was best man. The bride's mother wore a green silk dress with black acces sories. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was held at the Carl Walden home for the wed ding party and friends. During their .stay In Tacoma they vis ited Mrs. Walden's other son. Charles Howard Walden, who Is stationed at Paine field with the medical division of the U. S. army. Mrs; Strong Is a graduate of Medford high school in the class of 1039 and has been employed at Bear Creek Orchards. Mr. Strong Is employed at Roy's Feed company. They returned to this city Thursday evening and plan to take up residence here. Cookie Day To Be Thursday Another Cookie day for Med ford residents has been an nounced for Thursday. Collec tion of cookies for men in the U. S. armed forces In Oregon will be made at the Girl Scout headquarters Thursday from 10 until 3 p.m. Last Cookie day ISO dozen of cookies were con tributed for the military forces taking care of two barracks. The First Baptist church and First Christian church ladles participated in the Cookie day. Those In charge said yesterday that contributions will be great ly appreciated in order that Jackson county may continue Its fine record of supplying home made delicacies to the military men. Pro America will be in charge of the collection commit tee this week. Dinner Observes 100th Anniversary In celebration of the centen nial 'of the Ladies' Relief so ciety of the L.D.S. church a dinner and entertainment will be held at 331 West Second street Tuesday at 7 p..m. Mem bers of the church and their families are Invited. All are re quested to bring their own table service and either sandwiches or salad. One hundred years ago the society was organized with a small membership and during the years it has extended service and achievement to all parts of the world, members said today. It has prospered and grown un til more than 100.000 women are celebrating the Centennial this year. Heirloom Tea Plans Completed Many interesting heirlooms will be displayed at the Heir loom tea to be held from 2 until 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Methodist church parlors, The tea hours will be from 3 until 3 o'clock. A special program has been arranged by Mrs. Elsie Carlton Strang. Mrs F. M. Corlies Is general chair man for the event. It Is expected that many ladies of the Methodist church will have on exhibit family treasures and among them Is ex peeled to be an old time phono graph. The public Is invited to the affair. During the evening meeting Mrs. Dickover commented on the recent growth of D. of U. V. saying that tents in Portland had seen an Increase of over 100 members. She received a gift and corsage. Elks Lodge Plan Dance Local Elks lodge will hold their annual St. Patrick's dance at the Elks temple Saturday eve ning according to an announce ment by John Eddy, chairman of the dance committee. Eddy stated that the committee is planning the usual entertain ment with Steve Whipple's orchestra providing music. The affair will begin at 10 p. m. and will be for Elks and invited guests. As a pre face to the discussion Mrs. Smith stated that the girls based their report on the writings of Dr. Dean, leading internaticnal ist and author. The girls regard ed the discussion as a reporter's report on Mrs. Deans theory. Taking part were Helen Webb, "Human Welfare;" Joyce Utz, "Psychology of Different Races;" Ann Drysdale, "Future as the Nazi Sees It:" Natalie Parker, "Future As Others See It;" Margaret Allen, "What Is America's Share in All This." Mrs. Margaret Fabrlck gave a review of "Mexico and Its Heritage" by Ernest Greuning and combined with her review personal observations gathered during her vacation in Mexico. Mrs. Fabrlck said that the church was the dominating fac tor in Mexico. Mrs. F, G. Hughes read a short outline of the life of Greuning, authority on America's neighbors and at present, governor of Alaska. Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith of Rogue River and James Wesley Brown, Jr., son of James Wesley Brown, Sr. The ceremony was read by the Rev. Harold A. Shaw. They were at tended by Miss Shirley Angle and Kenneth Martin. The bride chose a gray suit with a pink lac blouse and a corsage of rosebuds. Guests at tending the wedding were the bride's parents and her brother, Arthur Smith of Rogue River. Mrs. Kate Mcllvain, Edward Brbwn, Mrs. Cecil Moore, Vir ginia Moor and Mist Marie Reinhart. Following a wedding trip to Los Angeles Mr. and Mrs. Brown will make their home in Grants Pass at 41S K street. Holbrook celebrat ed her 86th birthday Friday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Andrews. 35 Vancouver avenue. She has resided in this city for the past nine years, coming here from Portland. She was born March 13, 1856 in Sparta. N. C. Dinner was served to the fam ily at a table centered with spring flowers.
